🚦 New Speed Trailer to Help Keep Oregon’s Streets Safer

The Oregon Police Department is pleased to announce the purchase of a new speed trailer from All Traffic Solutions!

This purchase was made possible through City Manager Darin DeHaan’s efforts in securing a grant through the 2026 Powering Safe Communities program, offered by ComEd and the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus.

The trailer will be deployed throughout the community to increase driver awareness, encourage compliance with posted speed limits, and support efforts to reduce speeding. It is not connected to or part of the Flock camera system. The trailer can collect data on vehicle speeds and traffic patterns, providing the Oregon Police Department with valuable information to identify areas of concern and guide traffic enforcement efforts.

Thank you to City Manager DeHaan, ComEd, and the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus for supporting a safer Oregon!

Slow down. Stay alert. Drive safely.

The Oregon Police Department extends a heartfelt thank-you to the Illinois State Police, Ogle County Sheriff's Office, Mount Morris Police Department, Oregon Fire Protection District, City of Oregon, Illinois, and City of Oregon Public Works Department for helping make this year’s Autumn on Parade Festival one of the best!

Your teamwork, dedication, and hard work helped keep the festival safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for residents and visitors alike. An event of this size would be difficult to manage without the support of each of these departments.

We appreciate your partnership and everything you do for our community. Thank you for helping make Autumn on Parade a weekend to remember!

πŸŽ¨πŸš” WHEN ART CLASS MEETS THE SQUAD CAR! πŸš”πŸŽ¨

A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Kincaide and her talented art students for helping design the graphics for SRO Terry Lester’s squad car!

We wanted our SRO squad to represent the students and school community Officer Lester serves every day, and who better to help make that happen than the students themselves! πŸ¦…πŸš”

Thank you for sharing your creativity and talent with the Oregon Police Department. You guys did an awesome job!

And Officer Lester… no pressure, but the students made you look pretty cool. Try to keep it that way! πŸ˜‚

The Oregon Police Department would like to thank Oregon Community Unit School District 220 for allowing us to participate in a special tribute today honoring the heroes and victims of September 11, 2001.

As part of today’s remembrance, Officer Terry Lester climbed the equivalent of 110 stories in honor of the firefighters, police officers, first responders, and countless others who showed extraordinary courage and selflessness on 9/11.

The significance of 110 stories comes from the height of the World Trade Center Twin Towers. On the morning of September 11, 2001, first responders rushed toward danger while thousands of others were trying to escape. Firefighters carrying heavy equipment climbed stairwell after stairwell, heading upward to help people they had never met, many knowing they might not make it back down.

That day, 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 Port Authority Police Department officers were among those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Today, 9/11 Memorial Stair Climbs are held across the country, with participants climbing 110 stories to symbolize completing the heroic journey those responders began that morning.

We are proud of Officer Lester for taking on this challenge and representing the Oregon Police Department, and we sincerely thank OCUSD 220 for giving us the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful remembrance.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember their courage, their sacrifice, and the unity our nation showed in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

Today, the Oregon Police Department pauses to remember and honor all those whose lives were forever changed on September 11, 2001. We remember the innocent lives lost, the families who lost loved ones, and the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and countless everyday citizens who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We also honor those who responded in the days, months, and years that followed, many of whom later became ill or lost their lives because of their service. May we never forget their sacrifice, their bravery, and the way our nation came together as one. We will always remember.

Chief Kalnins recently had the opportunity to meet with representatives from Etnyre, who presented him with this amazing gift for the Oregon Police Department and all of the officers.

We are incredibly grateful for Etnyre's generosity and continued support of our department. It means a great deal to our officers to know that local business and community partners are behind us.

Thank you, Etnyre, for this wonderful gift and for everything you do for the Oregon community. We are proud to have such a great company and community partner right here in our area.
