Pursuant to the Florida Supreme Court rule changes AND a Ninth Circuit Administrative Order, parties MUST have a MEANINGFUL meet and confer PRIOR to filing motions and AGAIN PRIOR to setting a hearing. In reality this requires 2 separate meetings prior to the actual hearing to attempt in good faith to resolve the issue. The meet and confer MUST be ON THE PHONE or (surprise face) IN PERSON. An email exchange DOES NOT COUNT. The civil division will stop accepting hearing notices where the meet and confer is only via email. You’re all on notice!

New Policies and Procedures for Division 48 will be live tomorrow on the 9th’s website. Already uploaded are (1) 9th Circuit Admin order on meet and confer requirements prior to unilaterally setting hearings (2) Short matter/Ex Parte check list (3) PTC check list and (4) Fla R Civ P meet and confer requirements.

We have a new WebEx link for hybrid hearings or trial testimony and updated PTC/Trial dates for all of 2026, 2027, and 2028.

Ninth Circuit FL Alert: all courthouses in the Ninth Judicial Circuit will be closed through Friday 10/11/24. Normal operations resume Monday 10/14/24.

UPDATE: Ninth Circuit will be CLOSED on Wednesday AND Thursday. Friday will be determined based on the effects of the storm.

Tuesday = Open
Wednesday = CLOSED
Thursday = TBA
