It’s Spring in Thrall!
The Tigerettes started their season strong at home against the Giddings Lady Buffs.

There is nothing more valuable to a school trustee than their network of peers from across the state. When we work together, without partisan affiliation, we are a uniquely powerful group.
More than 60 trustees from ISDs of all sizes met in Washington DC this week for the Texas Federal Advocacy Conference.
We spent one day hearing presentations from national authorities on a variety of topics. Federal funding assist our districts in providing services related to nutrition, mental heath, and special education. The abolishment of the U.S. Department of Education will change how we receive those finds, but we are told that support will continue nonetheless.
We spent the second day visiting with our senators and congressmen and sitting down with their staffs to continue strengthening those relationships that will allow us to follow up on what we have been told.

Texas Federal Advocacy Conference 2026 begins tomorrow. Walking around the nation’s capitol today and reflecting on the fact that the high quality, free, public education that we want for every student in Texas, is one of the fundamental values that built this nation.

The process of creating the public education legislative priorities for the 90th Legislative Session has begun. Rodrigo Reyes and I represented Thrall ISD in last night’s meeting of Central Texas school districts.

Last Friday, Congressman Pete Sessions honored three Central Texas Veterans with the Congressional Veteran's Commendation Award, and he honored Thrall Independent School District by asking to use our new Thrall Elementary School as the venue for the ceremony.

Further honoring out district, the ceremony included several of our students. Members of the FFA welcomed the guest, posted and retired the colors, and offered the invocation and benediction. An ensemble of 14 young ladies from Mrs. Butler's 5th grade music class sang the National Anthem and then closed the ceremony with a beautiful message of Thanksgiving.

As a veteran, I was humbled to have the opportunity to emcee the event. As a member of this community, I could not have been any more proud to be included.
