Breaking Free From Leviathan Spirit: The Spirit Behind Chaos and Misunderstanding
By Deborah T. Iluyemi
A few minutes ago, I felt a nudge to write this teaching, be blessed as you read đ
One thing believers must understand is that not every battle is physical.
There are spiritual operations that influence atmospheres, relationships, communication, emotions, and even how people perceive one another.
One operation many believers talk about is Leviathan.
The Bible mentions Leviathan in places like Job 41, Isaiah 27:1, and Psalms 74:14.
In Isaiah 27:1, the Bible says:
âIn that day, the Lord with His severe sword, great and strong, will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan that twisted serpentâŚâ
One thing many believers associate with Leviathan is twisting.
Twisting conversations.
Twisting intentions.
Twisting communication.
Twisting relationships.
This is why there are people who constantly feel misunderstood no matter how carefully they try to explain themselves.
You say one thing and people hear another thing entirely.
You explain yourself and somehow it becomes more complicated.
You try to make peace and confusion increases.
There are people reading this and you have genuinely been wondering: âWhy am I always misunderstood?â
Now let me say this carefully.
Not every misunderstanding is spiritual.
Sometimes people simply lack communication skills, emotional maturity, wisdom, patience, or healing.
But there are also moments where confusion becomes repetitive, strange, divisive, and emotionally exhausting.
This is why discernment matters.
The enemy loves confusion because confusion creates division.
Division destroys trust.
Division destroys relationships.
Division destroys unity.
The Bible says in James 3:16:
âFor where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.â
This scripture is powerful because it shows that confusion is not neutral.
Where confusion constantly exists, there is usually deeper spiritual and emotional disorder underneath.
This is why environments filled with jealousy, offense, gossip, pride, competition, and strife often become chaotic emotionally and spiritually.
One thing you will notice around this kind of operation is disorder.
People become suspicious unnecessarily.
Conversations become emotionally charged.
Misunderstanding increases.
Offense increases.
People begin to assume instead of communicate.
And sometimes people become trapped in cycles of constantly explaining themselves while still being misunderstood.
Another thing associated with Leviathan is pride.
The Bible says in Job 41:34:
âHe beholds every high thing; He is king over all the children of pride.â
Pride is dangerous spiritually.
Pride resists correction.
Pride resists accountability.
Pride keeps people trapped in offense.
Pride makes reconciliation difficult because everyone wants to be right instead of seeking peace.
This is why many relationships break down unnecessarily.
People stop listening.
People become defensive.
People become offended quickly.
People twist conversations through hurt and pride.
And let me say this carefully.
The enemy also takes advantage of emotional wounds.
Some people interpret everything through rejection, trauma, insecurity, abandonment, or pain.
This is why emotional healing matters spiritually.
Because wounded people sometimes hear through wounds instead of wisdom.
Someone corrects them and they hear rejection.
Someone asks a question and they hear accusation.
Someone disagrees with them and they feel attacked.
This is why healing and discernment must work together.
Another thing believers must understand is this:
The enemy thrives where there is:
Gossip
Pride
Offense
Unforgiveness
Jealousy
Competition
Emotional instability
Strife
Bitterness
The Bible says in Proverbs 6:16-19:
âThese six things the Lord hates⌠one who sows discord among brethren.â
Discord is serious spiritually because division destroys unity.
This is why believers must guard their hearts carefully.
The Bible says in Proverbs 4:23:
âGuard your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.â
Your heart matters spiritually because whatever controls your heart eventually affects your words, relationships, discernment, and reactions.
Another thing believers must understand is that deliverance is not just about prayer.
Freedom also requires transformation.
You cannot constantly entertain gossip and expect peace.
You cannot constantly feed offense and expect healthy relationships.
You cannot remain emotionally unhealed and expect clarity in communication.
This is why renewing your mind matters.
The Bible says in Romans 12:2:
âBe transformed by the renewing of your mindâŚâ
Transformation affects how you think, respond, interpret situations, and handle people.
Another important thing is intimacy with God.
Some people are constantly surrounded by confusion because they are disconnected from prayer, Godâs Word, and the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Prayerlessness weakens discernment.
Lack of Godâs Word weakens wisdom.
Emotional instability weakens judgment.
This is why staying close to God matters deeply.
The Holy Spirit brings clarity.
The Holy Spirit exposes lies.
The Holy Spirit brings discernment and peace.
The Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7:
âFor God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.â
A sound mind matters spiritually.
God does not operate through confusion, chaos, instability, and constant emotional torment.
And hear this carefully:
Jesus Christ is greater than every operation of darkness.
The Bible says in Colossians 2:15:
âHaving disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.â
This means the victory of Christ is already established.
As believers, our focus should not become fear or obsession with darkness.
Our focus should be Christ.
Because the more rooted you are in God, the harder it becomes for confusion, pride, offense, emotional chaos, and manipulation to dominate your life.
If you constantly find yourself surrounded by confusion, broken communication, repeated offense, emotional exhaustion, and misunderstanding, ask the Lord for discernment.
Ask Him to reveal areas that need healing.
Ask Him to expose pride, bitterness, offense, insecurity, and emotional wounds.
Because sometimes the breakthrough is not just deliverance.
Sometimes the breakthrough is healing, wisdom, humility, maturity, and transformation.
Finally đ
đ The enemy thrives in confusion and division.
đ Pride and offense destroy relationships.
đ Emotional wounds can distort communication.
đ Gossip and bitterness create unhealthy atmospheres.
đ Healing and discernment must work together.
đ Intimacy with God brings clarity and peace.
đ Freedom and healing are possible through Christ.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the victory we have through Jesus Christ.
Lord, expose every area of pride, confusion, offense, bitterness, insecurity, and emotional chaos operating in my life.
Heal every wound, rejection, trauma, and misunderstanding affecting my relationships and communication.
Help me to walk in humility, wisdom, discernment, emotional maturity, and truth.
Break every cycle of confusion, division, accusation, and strife operating around my life.
Renew my mind and help me stay rooted in Your Word and led by the Holy Spirit.
Fill my heart with peace and clarity.
In Jesusâ name,
Amen.
With love and blessings,
Yours in Christ,
