Can anyone advise or help her?
From:

Good Afternoon,
We had some kittens TNR at my office. As soon as they came back, my boss asked us to stop feeding them. They were about 4 months old. We recaught two of them and took them home. After many weeks, one of them hides, but if caught will let you pet her and even purr. The other is terrified. That's the most we can do. My daughter has a tiny apartment and isn't even supposed to have a pet. Do you have anyone that would continue to work with them or needs one as a barn cat? I highly doubt they would get adopted at the shelter..

TO: Cats are MY LOVES

I was given your name by Chelsea. I am the founder and President of Pawsitively Humane. I was intrinsically involved in helping to expose the hoarding case of Nicole Dupras, a known "rescuer" in the South Florida cat community. We also worked hard at pushing the authorities (Broward County Sheriff, Broward County Commissioners, and Broward County Animal Control) to act sooner than later.

The good news is that all cats were removed last night. Approximately 80. The second half of this major effort is finding rescue organizations to help take some cats so they are not euthanized. From what we learned the cats have some upper respiratory issues. But BCAC will treat.

What BCAC is asking us is to reach out to every single possible rescue organization to take 2, 3, 5, 8 cats. If your organization is able to help, please contact BROWARD COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL at 954-359-5609 or contact Emily Wood, Director of BCAC at [email protected]. If you can not pick up the cats, WE CAN ARRANGE TRANSPORT.

Many rescuers believed and trusted Nicole Dupras. Many were mislead. Individuals and organizations. She did good work early on but lost her way and became numb to the problem. It happens sadly. I only became aware and involved last Tuesday and heard concerns she may be hoarding. Within three hours of getting concrete facts and not relying on speculation I stated this was glaring case of hoarding and insisted we need to pay a visit to offer help. Within 24 hours BSO and BCAC were out there.

Those who defended Nicole did not want to believe she was capable of neglecting these cats.

I have already shared with rescuers to please NOT attack any rescue organization for having worked with Nicole in the past. We all need to come together now to help the cats. If anything we need to support rescue organizations more than ever.

Soon, I will be writing a blog post about the obvious signs of hoarding. Two major red flags was that she never posted what happened to the cats she took in, and moreso she would not allow anyone to come to her home even when she was recently hospitalized. Not a single person. I am afraid this is only the tip of the iceberg.

If you are able to take some cats, if you would be so kind to let us know it will help us track this effort.

Thank you so much for your time and attention.
Bless you for all you do to help sick, stray and abandoned animals!

Christine Michaels

[ In the future you will be hearing from me on a more positive note, the ultimate goal of our organization is to launch a major awareness campaign about proper pet care, homeless pets and especially community/stray cats, one of the biggest epidemics facing South Florida. Educating the public is the key to getting more residents involved and producing solutions with greater positive impact. We have to reverse this epidemic. ]
