Timely Warning: The UCF Police Department is notifying the UCF community about seven electric scooter thefts reported on the main campus in the past two weeks.
Five of the seven scooters were stolen near the Towers and Knights Plaza area, while the remaining two were taken near the John C. Hitt Library and the Lynx bus stop near Garage A. In all cases, the scooter had been left unsecured and was not parked at a designated rack.
UCFPD is actively investigating these incidents and will continue its 24/7 patrol of UCFโs campuses and affiliated properties.
We ask that anyone with information call 407-823-5555 or 911 for an active emergency. You also can report information anonymously by calling CRIMELINE at 800-423-TIPS (8477) or leaving a tip online at crimeline.org.
PREVENTION TIPS
If you park your scooter or bicycle on campus, always secure it to a designated rack. Protect your property by investing in a high-quality lock, such as a U-bolt, which is more difficult to cut or remove. Thieves often look for easy opportunities, and unattended or unsecured bikes and scooters are more likely to be targeted. Be sure to lock up properly and check on your property regularly.
UCFPD encourages students to register for a complimentary bicycle or scooter permit through Parking & Transportation Services, or through UCFPDโs online property registration system. Registration can help law enforcement identify and return recovered property to its rightful owner more quickly and efficiently.
Remember: if you see something, say something โ immediately and to police - so UCFPD can do something.
