Corporal Devin Narine, Officer First Class Manny Guerrero, and Officer First Class Chris Colvin recently completed UCF Police Department’s 40-hour in-house drone training program, taught by Officer Lee Smith and Sergeant Alan Elliot.

The course combined classroom instruction and hands-on preparation, covering FAA regulations, airspace awareness, flight safety, mission planning, weather considerations, privacy law, and agency policy.

Officers also explored real-world law enforcement applications of drone technology, including search and rescue and tactical operations. The program emphasized safety, professionalism, and sound decision-making before taking to the skies.

Last week, UCFPD joined local law enforcement agencies to honor fallen heroes at the Orange County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony at the Orange County Courthouse. UCFPD’s Honor Guard participated in the ceremony, which also recognized the families of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

This meaningful event brought together families and friends of those lost in the line of duty, law enforcement officers of all ranks, professional staff, and community members to pay their respect from across the county and state.

This is our why 💙

Luna recently spent time with two young survivors as they prepared to testify in a difficult case. It’s been a long and emotional journey for them, but they shared with Detective Becker just how much Luna’s presence meant to them. They loved her (and her baseball cards!) and said she made those really tough moments a little easier.

As a special thank-you, they even drew a portrait of Luna for us — a keepsake we’ll always treasure. Their mom also shared how grateful she is that this kind of support is available.

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do.

And they’re off! 🚴‍♀️💙

UCF Police officers are in Virginia joining agencies from across the country for the Police Unity Tour, where they’ll bike more than 300 miles to Washington, D.C. to honor law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

🚧 Heads up, Knights! 🚧

Please expect road closures and traffic delays near Addition Financial Arena for upcoming commencement ceremonies. Ceremonies will take place at 9 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m. on Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9. 🎓

To keep everyone safe, the area around the arena—including Gemini Blvd.—will be closed for much of the day. Be sure to follow directions on posted message boards if you’re in the area.

Not attending commencement? We recommend using alternate parking locations and planning ahead, as traffic will be heavier than usual. Arena-area parking is still accessible with your ID, but delays are expected.

Thanks for your patience—and congrats to our graduates! 🎉

This May, many of our UCFPD officers will be wearing green badges in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month. 💚

As a campus law enforcement agency, we know mental health is an important part of our community’s well-being. It’s a key focus for us, and all of our officers are trained in crisis intervention to help them respond with care and compassion.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis and needs immediate help, please call 911.
