¡Vamos a Querétaro! 🇲🇽 Today we celebrated the inaugural Volaris flight from MCO to Querétaro, Mexico - opening the door to new experiences, new connections, and new adventures. We’re thrilled to welcome this new route and help travelers explore the vibrant culture, history, and beauty of this incredible city. The Consul of Mexico in Orlando, Iván Pliego Moreno, joined our Chief Commercial Officer, Vicki Jaramillo, to welcome travelers and commemorate this exciting milestone. ¡Buen viaje to all passengers on this first flight! ✈️

From ramp to skies - a father & son story: ✈️

A full‑circle moment took flight at our airport when Crew Chief Ramp Instructor, Walter Laines, worked his son’s flight for the very first time in his 41‑year career with American Airlines. His son, Brandon Laines, recently became a First Officer with the airline, turning their shared passion for aviation into a shared family journey.

Family members gathered at the gate to celebrate this milestone, making the moment even more special. For this father‑son duo, working side‑by‑side at the airport they call home made the experience all the more meaningful.

Talk about an amAAzing legacy in motion. ❤️

Yesterday, we watched our yellow friend make its final departure into the sky. 🛫 Spirit’s last aircraft at our airport lifted off to Phoenix Goodyear Airport (GYR), Arizona, marking the end of an era that spanned 33 years here at MCO. Former Spirit employees were invited to gather with us and share this moment of farewell, honoring the legacy and memories built over more than three decades. 💛🖤

This morning, Congressman Darren Soto held a press conference to mark a major investment in our airport’s future. With his support, MCO secured more than $33 million in federal infrastructure grants through the Airport Terminals Program - funding that will modernize restroom facilities in Terminals A and B. Congressman Soto was joined by GOAA Interim CFO Marie Dennis, Orlando Commissioner Tom Keen, and Kissimmee Gateway Airport’s Shaun Germolus, reflecting a strong regional partnership and a shared commitment to strengthening Central Florida’s aviation infrastructure.

This exhibit showcases the creativity of employees, retirees, and their families from MCO and ORL. Our Greater Orlando Aviation Authority hosted an exclusive job fair to support employees previously employed by Spirit Airlines, ensuring they have direct access to new opportunities within our airport community. 💛 Several airport partners participated, offering on the spot guidance, interviews, and pathways to roles that align with each individual’s skills and experience.
