Today is SUDEP Action Day🗣️

SUDEP, Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy, is the most common epilepsy-related cause of death. Each year, about 1 in 1,000 adults and children with epilepsy die from it. It claims more lives in the U.S. than house fires or SIDS, yet far fewer people know about it.

It’s not an easy topic, but knowing your risk is empowering. If you or someone you love has epilepsy, ask your care team:

How can I lower my risk?
Are there other treatments, like surgery, neurostimulation, or dietary therapy, that could reduce my seizures?
Should I consider a seizure alert device or sharing a bedroom if I have seizures at night?

Start the conversation today, and keep it going all year long! 🧠

Meet Sam, a teen with epilepsy who just wants to feel like a regular kid, so he goes to prom even though he knows the lights could trigger a seizure. Written and directed by Miles Levin, who lives with epilepsy himself, this film will be an inspiration to everyone touched by epilepsy and shows that there is so much more to the story than seizures.
