There are three species of manatees, the Amazonian manatee, the West Indian manatee, and the West African manatee.
The Amazonian and the West Indian manatees are both considered vulnerable. But thanks to successful conservation, in 2016 the West African manatee was downgraded from endangered to threatened.
The main threat manatees face are human-related issues, including habitat destruction, ship strikes, and getting caught or digesting fishing gear.

There are two types of Elephants, the African, listed as vulnerable, and the Asian, listed as endangered. You can tell the difference between the two types by looking at the size of their ears. African elephants are generally larger and have very large and pronounced ears. The asian elephants are smaller and also have noticeably smaller ears.
The biggest threat to both populations is being poached for their ivory tusks, meat, and hides. Other threats include habitat loss and conflicts with the locals.
