Money After Dark — What a Fantastic Evening for FAVOB!

What an incredible turnout last night in Altamonte Springs!

The Florida Association of Veteran Owned Businesses (FAVOB) was proud to partner with Regions Bank for another successful Money After Dark networking event, bringing together veteran entrepreneurs, business leaders, community partners, and supporters who believe in the power of connection and collaboration.

A huge THANK YOU to Regions Bank, especially Branch Manager Eddy and his amazing team, for their hospitality, partnership, and continued support of our veteran-owned business community!

It was wonderful to have Agnes Fray, representing FAVOB’s State Board leadership, alongside Marisol Salgado García from our Orlando Growth Hub leadership, helping strengthen relationships and welcome new faces into our growing network.

We were also excited to welcome our new members from Alpha Sports Performance! We look forward to seeing your business grow and thrive within the FAVOB community.

A very special thank you to Joey Cote, Veterans Service Officer (VSO) for Seminole County, for joining us and for the important work you do in support of our veterans!

The turnout was fantastic, but what made the evening truly special was the sense of community.

FAVOB continues to feel the incredible support of our local businesses, community leaders, and partners. We are energized by these relationships and look forward to creating even more opportunities to connect, collaborate, and grow together.

NOW, WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Are you a FAVOB member interested in hosting a networking event, leading an educational workshop, or bringing the FAVOB community together at your business?

251 years of service, strength, and presence around the world.

Since 1775, the United States Navy has stood watch at sea, protected our nation’s interests, and built generations of leaders shaped by discipline, adaptability, and service.

Today, we salute the Sailors who have worn the uniform—and especially the Navy veterans in the FAVOB community who continue bringing that leadership into their businesses and communities.

⚓ Happy 251st Birthday, U.S. Navy.

Your network becomes more valuable when you share it.

Think about the people you know through FAVOB.

Is there a veteran business owner who should meet a potential referral partner?
A member who could benefit from someone else’s expertise?
Two people who simply need to be in the same conversation?

Make the introduction.

🤝 Send the email.
📲 Connect them on LinkedIn.
☕ Introduce them at the next FAVOB event.

You don’t have to know exactly where the connection will lead. Sometimes the most valuable thing you can do is simply put the right people in the same room.

October challenge: Make one introduction that could help someone else’s business.

Be in the right rooms with FAVOB!

Last week, FAVOB Vice Chair Agnes Fray and FAVOB Governmental Affairs Chair Chris Costa represented the Florida Association of Veteran-Owned Businesses at Governor Ron DeSantis’ news conference at FDOT.

For FAVOB, being present matters. Building relationships matters. And making sure Florida’s veteran-owned business community has a presence in important conversations across our state matters.

But FAVOB is only as strong as our members.

We want YOU involved!

Reach out to us. Attend an event. Connect with fellow members. Get involved with your Growth Hub. Volunteer. Participate. Tell us where you want to contribute and what opportunities you’re looking for!

And members — make sure you’re logging into GrowthZone! FAVOB updates, events, opportunities, and important information are there for you. Don’t miss what’s happening simply because you’re not checking in.

Your FAVOB membership should be more than a name in a directory. Use it... Engage with it... Build relationships through it...

We’ll keep working to get FAVOB into the right rooms!

We want our members in those rooms with us.

Be engaged. Be connected. Be in the right rooms with FAVOB.

Because when our members show up, FAVOB gets stronger

If someone found your FAVOB profile today, would they know why they should contact you?

Your member profile is more than an administrative record.

It’s part of how other members, partners, and people searching the FAVOB directory discover your business.

Take five minutes this week and look at your profile through someone else’s eyes:

🔎 Is your business information current?
🌐 Is your website correct?
📞 Can someone easily contact you?
💬 Does your profile clearly explain what you do?
🎯 Would someone know when to refer business to you?

An introduction only works if people understand what you bring to the table.

Log in to your FAVOB profile and make sure your business is putting its best foot forward.

Think about the last FAVOB event you attended.

Who did you meet that you meant to reconnect with?

Someone who could be a great referral partner.
A business owner you wanted to learn more about.
A potential collaborator.
Or simply someone you had a good conversation with and said, “We should grab coffee.”

This is your reminder to follow up.

🤝 Send the email.
☕ Schedule the coffee.
📲 Make the introduction you promised.
💬 Check in without asking for anything.

Strong business networks aren’t built by collecting contacts. They’re built by continuing conversations.

Your 30 Day challenge: Reconnect with one person you met through FAVOB before the month ends.

Better yet, tag them below and tell them you’re glad you connected.

Bridget Lake has made service a throughline in everything she does.

A U.S. Navy veteran, former FAVOB Orlando Chapter Chair, and 2023 Veteran of the Year, Bridget has consistently shown up for veterans, businesses, and the Central Florida community.

That commitment carries into her work with Chad Barr Law, a full-service firm serving clients in areas including Veterans Disability Appeals, personal injury, Social Security Disability, family law, criminal law, and appellate law. The firm also has a strong national focus on helping veterans challenge denied VA disability claims and pursue increased disability ratings.

Bridget is part of a team that understands the military community and works to help clients navigate complex legal challenges with experienced, personalized representation.

Her leadership has also helped strengthen FAVOB at the chapter level, build meaningful connections, and create more opportunities for veteran-owned businesses to be seen and supported.

We’re proud to recognize Bridget Lake and the work she continues to do alongside the Chad Barr Law team for veterans and the broader community.

79 years of owning the sky.

Since 1947, the United States Air Force has defended our nation with speed, precision, innovation, and an unmistakable standard of excellence.

Today, we salute the Airmen who served, sacrificed, and carried that mission forward.

To the Air Force veterans in the FAVOB community: your service didn’t end with the uniform. The discipline, leadership, and drive you built there continue to show up in the businesses and communities you lead today.

Tag an Air Force veteran who deserves a salute today. 👇
