🎃🍂FALL HYDRANT FLUSHING UPDATE🍂🎃

An update on fire hydrant flushing: we were unable to complete flushing as originally scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Flushing began today, but not all hydrants were completed.

Hydrant flushing will now continue on Monday, September 28, and Tuesday, September 29. Residents may notice temporary water discoloration or change in water pressure. This is normal and should clear after running cold water for a short period.

Thank you for understanding, and we appreciate everyone's patience as the Water Department works to complete this seasonal maintenance.

🚧ATTENTION ORLEANS VILLAGE RESIDENTS🚧

We’d like to let residents know about a couple of important projects happening around the village this week:

• High Street Paving Project
Paving work is scheduled on High Street throughout the week. As it is a dead‑end road, impacts will mainly affect residents living on High Street and possibly a few nearby streets. Please use caution when traveling in that area, especially around work crews and equipment.

• Fall Hydrant Flushing
The Water Department will be conducting seasonal hydrant flushing on Wednesday, September 23 and Thursday, September 24. Some residents may notice temporary discoloration in their water—this is normal during flushing and should clear up quickly. Running cold water for a short time can help it clear.

🚧NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSURE🚧

Water Street will be closed this coming Monday, August 31st and Tuesday, September 1st from the hours of 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM each day.

During these hours, the road will be closed to all traffic, and certain residents will not be able to access their driveways. Please plan accordingly and seek an alternate route.

We apologize for the inconvenience but appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we complete this emergency work.

It's that time of year again! The Village of Orleans is now accepting applications for the Webster M. Newcomb and Emily M. Newcomb Memorial Scholarship!

Are you currently in college pursuing a career in the medical field? The Newcomb Memorial Scholarship is here to support your journey toward making a difference in healthcare!

⚕Eligibility:
- Open to current college students in their sophomore year and beyond pursuing a degree in medicine, nursing, or any health-related field. High school students and college freshman are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Individual must live in the Town of Barton.
- Demonstrated commitment to community service and healthcare initiatives.

📆Application Deadline:
- Submit your application by November 20, 2026.
- Funds will be awarded on November 23, 2026.

✍How to Apply:
1. Complete the application form. Applications are available at the Village of Orleans office located at 1 Memorial Square, Orleans.
2. Provide two letters of recommendation from teachers or mentors in the healthcare field.
3. Include a current resume highlighting your academic achievements and community service.
