With several people asking how to find it, we’re sharing a trail map and a link to the parking area at 92 Bennoch Road in Orono.

The pictured map shows the trail and a couple of nearby paths. Most of the trail is privately owned and generously shared with the public. Please stay on the trail, respect posted signs and barriers, keep pets leashed, and clean up after them.

🍂 The trail is reopened!

The crew has completed this phase of the invasive tree removal. While the trail was closed, we also took advantage of the opportunity to finish a large section of overhead lights for this year’s Stillwater River Trail of Lights! ✨

Thank you to everyone who respected the barriers and gave us room to work safely. Please remember that the trail runs through our private property, which we’re happy to share with the community. We appreciate your continued patience and respect for any posted barriers as we finish installing the overhead lights.

🎄It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! 🎄

A truckload of Christmas cheer arrived today for the Stillwater River Trail of Lights! ✨ We’ve been busy behind the scenes getting ready for our 7th year, and we can’t wait for you to see what’s new this season.

The trail is growing, the lights are going up, and Christmas will be here before we know it! 🎅🎄✨

🚧 Temporary Trail Closure Notice 🚧

The section of the Stillwater River Trail running through the property at 100 Bennoch Road, from the parking lot to the first footbridge, will be closed from Wednesday afternoon through Friday morning.

This temporary closure is necessary to allow for trail maintenance and the safe removal of invasive trees. The work will be completed by Lee Thornton of Riverbend Roll-offs & Landscape LLC in coordination with the Town of Orono Orono Parks & Recreation.

For everyone’s safety, please do not cross or attempt to go around the posted barriers while this work is underway.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding and look forward to reopening the trail Friday morning!

🚧 A quick trail update! 🚧

Today, we had a lift delivered to the trail as we get ready to begin installing the lights! We’re taking advantage of the good weather while we can before things turn 🥶.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and ask that everyone please use extra caution when traveling along the trail by foot or bike.

Over the next month or so, the lift will be in use on many days and will also be stationary on the trail overnight while work is underway. Please be aware of the equipment, give it plenty of space, and use caution when passing.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work to get the lights up and make some exciting improvements to the trail! 💡
