Today, the Butte County Board of Supervisors recognized October 5–9, 2026, as Code Enforcement Officer Appreciation Week, in alignment with the State of California’s recognition of the second week of October for this honor.

Code Enforcement Officers protect the safety, health, and welfare of our residents by enforcing local, state, and federal laws related to building, zoning, housing, cannabis, abandoned vehicles, and life safety.

They are dedicated, qualified, and highly trained professionals who share the goals of preventing neighborhood deterioration, enhancing communities, ensuring safety, and preserving property values through knowledge, training, and application of housing, zoning, and nuisance laws.

Butte County wants to recognize and honor the Code Enforcement Officers who serve the community and acknowledge their role in improving community members' quality of life.
