Reminder: Tuesday's Program at Orr's Island Library.

08/08/2026

The Orr’s Island Library’s annual book (and bake) sale was once again a success under sunny, warm skies. Thanks to all who left with new reading treasures. This annual event runs smoothly only because of things most people never see. Librarian Anne Wilkes collects, sorts, and boxes books all year. Excellent bakers prepare delicious baked goods. Board members, their families, and thoughtful friends and volunteers haul out tables and empty out the boxes of books the day before we open. They then clean up on Saturday afternoon (both shown in the pictures below).

The energetic support of everyone is the key to making this annual event the wonderful time of camaraderie and conversation that is an integral part of the Harpswell community for residents and visitors alike. See you next year!

Mom was taking her time browsing the annual book sale today. The kids didn't mind, though. They already had their books.
