In honor of the Milwaukee Brewers starting the World Series tonight, we’re stepping up to the plate with a look back at Oshkosh’s own baseball history. ⚾

Oshkosh has always been a baseball town! We even had our own Brewers, the Oshkosh Brewers, among many other teams. We think these historic baseball photos are a grand slam way to get you into fan mode. Let's go Brewers! 💙💛

We were proud to collaborate with Communities at Oshkosh North students as they explored the people, places, and stories behind 41 local historical sites.

Oshkosh Public Museum staff helped students learn about Oshkosh history, supported their research, shared archival images, and helped build presentation skills for their Gallery Walk at The Gibson Social Club.

Congratulations to the 78 students who brought local history to life for more than 70 community visitors!

Discover the art of calaveritas literarias—playful poems from Mexico’s Día de Mu***os tradition that use humor, wit, and gentle satire to tease death and celebrate the people around us.

Participants will explore how La Muerte becomes a familiar, mischievous, and even funny character while creating their own poems inspired by friends, family, or public figures.

Join us on October 22, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. This program is free, but registration is required. Register today: https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/oshkoshpublicmuseum/learn-to-write-calaveritas-literarias

Indigenous Peoples Day celebrates and raises awareness of the many cultures of Indigenous or Native American peoples across the United States. Today we recognize that Native people are the first inhabitants of the Americas, including the lands that later became the United States of America. Today we hope you take time to learn more about the cultures of the people who originally inhabited the land we now call Wisconsin.

The Oshkosh Public Museum continues to work with our Indigenous communities through programs, exhibitions, and other collaborations. These include our current long-term exhibit, People of the Waters, which features a contemporary Indigenous artist each year. Additionally, our annual Bridging Past to Present program series includes workshops, lectures, and hands-on opportunities that celebrate Native American cultural heritage through contemporary artists.
