Winnebago County Emergency Management is sharing an important reminder from FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency for residents affected by the July 27 storms and tornadoes.

Fraudulent activity often increases after disasters. Scammers may try to obtain money, steal personal information or submit fraudulent applications for disaster assistance.

Learning from our response helps us prepare for the next emergency.

Winnebago County, and Outagamie County Emergency Management brought together approximately 50 people for an after-action review of the July 27 tornado and the emergency response and recovery efforts that followed.

The meeting provided an opportunity for emergency management personnel, municipal leaders, community partners and others involved in the response to reflect on what worked well, identify challenges, and discuss opportunities to improve.

After-action reviews are an important part of emergency management. They help strengthen coordination, communication, and procedures so agencies and organizations can respond more effectively to future disasters.

Thank you to everyone who participated and to the many individuals and organizations who continue to support our communities through recovery. Working together before, during and after a disaster helps us better serve our residents.

Winnebago County Public Health has been working to place Nalox-Zone Boxes throughout the community to increase access to naloxone for any community members who may need it. Individuals who need naloxone, or know someone who may need it, can simply take naloxone from any of the installed boxes - no appointment or request is necessary.

Nalox-Zone Boxes are currently located throughout Oshkosh, Neenah, and Fox Crossing at participating businesses and community locations. In addition to the life-saving naloxone, each box contains educational resources and instructions on how to properly administer it.

Each Nalox-Zone Box also has a blue Winnebago County Public Health sticker with a QR code, allowing community members to notify Public Health staff when the box needs to be restocked. This helps ensure that naloxone remains available when someone needs it.

These boxes were generously donated by Voices of Recovery. This work is being done in partnership with the Winnebago County Overdose Fatality Review Team, Apricity Residential Treatment, Solutions Recovery, Inc. , and other community partners.

Community residents can also get naloxone from our Public Health Vending Machines for free 24/7. If you have questions please call us at 920-232-3000 or learn more on our website: www.winnebagocountywi.gov/346/Public-Health-Vending-Machines
