Proud to support Bethany Arts Community and their youth arts programming!

✨ Bethany Arts Community has been awarded $35,000 from State Assemblymember Dana Levenberg to directly support our youth arts programming. This award is part of $300,000 from funds secured in the most recent state budget, awarded to thirteen organizations in Assembly District 95.

This much needed funding will support a wide range of Youth Arts Programming at Bethany Arts Community and provide greater access to the arts for youth in our district. BAC Youth Arts programming includes: our annual Teen Arts Residency, Bethany Kids CREATE Saturdays, afterschool workshops, Bethany Kids CREATE Summer program, and our annual community arts festivals. I was proud to join my colleagues in the Westchester state legislative delegation on Saturday to celebrate the $350,000 we secured in the most recent state budget for for Latino U College Access (aka LUCA). LUCA is a very important organization serving first-generation students in this district, helping young people prepare for college, identify the right schools for themselves, matriculate, and succeed. This funding is an investment in the human capital of this region and I am confident it will pay significant dividends in the future.

I joined colleagues, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East and Protect Our Care earlier this week to denounce the healthcare cuts that Congress passed last year, which are making healthcare increasingly unaffordable now. Rising premiums, higher out-of-pocket costs, and cuts to Medicaid are putting care out of reach for too many New Yorkers. I will continue working to protect the programs we rely on and advocating for New York State to get what it needs from the federal government.

With ICE agents recklessly shooting people in the course of their operations, we definitely don't need them anywhere near our schools. But earlier this week, there was yet another incident of ICE conducting operations near one of our schools here in AD95. It is important to know that ICE's current tactics are not necessary, and that New York State's laws would not prevent them from catching criminals if that were their goal. We deserve law enforcement that is focused on protecting everyone, not terrorizing us in the service of authoritarian goals.

Thank you to everyone who donated to our diaper drive! My colleagues and I delivered the diapers to 914 Cares yesterday. With the cost of everything going up along with diesel prices, more and more people are finding themselves in need of the generosity of others. I am grateful to everyone who stepped up for this drive.
