This is a highly trained and specialized trained team of firefighters specializing in the removal & rescuing of down firefighters. These services are reciprocated from department to department utilizing each others team at each others incidents. Our primary FAS Team for our District is from the Croton-on-Hudson FD. When a Working Fire is confirmed a series of events happens bringing additional resources into action. We have 3 chiefs in the OFD, they are elected by the general membership of the department. Fire Prevention Week 2026
“Charge Into Fire Safety™. Safe Charging Is a Superpower”

Safe Charging Is a Superpower!

Fire Prevention Week™ is October 4–10, 2026. “Charge Into Fire Safety™. Safe Charging Is a Superpower” this is this years Fire Prevention Week Theme. This focuses on the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer. Attached in this post are tip sheets that all can refer to to quickly refresh ourselves on how to keep fire smart.

During this month, the OFD will be visiting our local schools and daycare centers spreading the word on Fire Safety. More to come from these visits and one of the best times our members get to impact the lives of our community's youth.

Plug in. Power up. Stay safe.

25 Years ago today, the lives of every American changed….everyday life sometimes gets in the way of remembering, but today there’s no excuse.

Pause to remember and reflect on what the events of September 11th mean to all of us. It was a quarter century ago, many of us were not even born yet or might not remember the day at all. It is ALL our responsibilities to teach and educate those who don’t know the tragic events of 9/11.

Tonight at 7pm, join the community members of Ossining & Briarcliff Manor at the Ossining Waterfront and pause to remember all those that were lost that day. The events of 25 years ago still are felt today as Americans are still dying from 9/11 related illness.

Join us tonight and remember….Never Forget….
