On Monday, October 19th, at approximately 10:08 AM, OCFD WAS TONED by Carroll County Dispatch for a first alarm residential structure fire on Winter Lane.

Initial 911 information stated that a female caller was reporting that the side of her house was on fire.

Engine 1 with the duty crew arrived on the scene at 1015 and quickly applied water to the fire. 5C2 established command. The fire was determined to most likely be extension from a pellet stove vent within a single wide manufactured home. All occupants were confirmed to be out of the home, electrical power was secured, crews removed the pellet stove, and then proceeded to check for fire extension. The incident was declared under control at 10:31 AM and mutual aid companies were released.

Thanks to our Mutual Aid partners for their assistance.

Please, as we enter the heating season, have working smoke and CO detectors. Check clearances on heating units and assure your egress paths are clear.

🔥 A full charge isn’t worth a house fire!

Charging your phone on a bed or under a pillow may seem harmless, but it can increase the risk of fire.

Most smartphones use lithium-ion batteries. When damaged, defective, or overheated, these batteries can enter thermal runaway, producing intense heat, flammable gases, and potentially causing a fire.
