►► Prairie Elder Homes: A comforting alternative to traditional institutional care. Passion and commitment is our homes’ foundations

Prairie Elder Homes are not corporation-owned or one of a hundred chains. Our homes are managed and run by Mandy and Michala, two women committed to continuous learning and seeking the most proven, best practices used to care for and engage people living with dementia. They hire skilled caregivers who share their passion for learning and attend training on a regular basis.

>> Prairie Elder Homes Offer Residential Memory Care Second to None

Prairie Elder Homes offer care that is second to none—a bold statement, but one you can believe. Here, we strive to fill our residents’ days with meaningful activities matched to their interests and functional level. Activities focus on creating positive feelings of accomplishment.

>> Residential Neighborhoods & only 6 to 8 residents for personal care

Our homes are located in residential neighborhoods, which help our residents adjust to a new setting because it’s much like their own homes. The setting is intimate with only six to eight residents, and we consider it their home. Through building trusting relationships with family, each of our residents is treated and cared for as an individual. We pay attention to and care about the details of your loved one’s history, preferred routines and lifestyle. At Prairie Elder Homes, their days and activities are too. One of the unique features you will find in a Prairie Elder Home is the >>Snoezelen Approach> Premium, personalized shouldn’t come only at a premium price

You want the best memory care for your loved one. And price shouldn’t be an obstacle. Everyone deserves dignity and loving care. That’s why Prairie Elder Homes are comparably priced to “institution” facilities. Our all-inclusive monthly fees include:

♦ Three home-cooked meals plus snacks always available
♦ Safe and secure environment
♦ 24-hour, on-site care

PEC Friday Flash⚡️
We celebrated two birthdays this week; Miss Vicki at farm east and Mr. Ray at Lakehouse. Their special days were filled with cake, singing, and good wishes.🎂 We spent time outside enjoying the farm, feeding the animals, and doing farm chores.🐓🐖🐐🐑♥️
Shae had us create Fall/Halloween wreaths. We love how they turned out!🍁🎃Anna visited us and played her piano music for us. We love when she comes!🎹🎶Hank worked hard making several daily visits to all the houses throughout the week. We sure get a kick out of him!🐶♥️
We read, played lots of games, and cards. Lisa and Marlys visited Stillwell Elementary to
Dementia train the students. The students were very attentive, eager to learn, and can’t wait to meet the PEC residents when we start the Grand Friends Reading Program.📚
Shae did a very cool science experiment this week. Everyone loved it and it sparked lots of conversations. She also had us make the cutest and very delicious chocolate ghosts. 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳
We helped with chores around the houses, enjoyed activity stations, and listening to Delana play her hand pan. 🥁
We decorated the houses, arranged flowers, and enjoyed lots of walks.
Friday, we loved having the Blue Valley CAPS students connecting with the residents. Our residents look forward to having them here every week.

A dance. A smile. A moment of connection. A memory this daughter will carry with her forever.
This is what we mean when we say dementia care is about caring for the person, not just the disease. It’s about creating a place where people can thrive and families can return to being daughters, sons, and spouses- not just caregivers.
At Prairie Elder Care, these are the moments that remind us why we do what we do. Because there is still joy to be found, connections to be made, and special moments waiting to happen. ♥️

PEC Friday Flash⚡️
It’s been a fully engaged week on the PEC farmstead! Highlights included Music Mike entertain the house with sounds and singing🎸🎵, working in the gardens, and making S’more Cups with Shae👨‍🍳😍. We are thrilled to welcome back our friends from the Autism Resource Center of KC♥️. They will be helping on the farm on Tues. & Thurs. afternoons through October. Because to say “hi” if you see them around the farm. We had an adorable little volunteer come to spread joy. Her name is Fatima. She visited with the residents, danced for them, and passed out flowers. She really knew how to lifts spirits🌼🌸. Delana cam to play her handpan this week. She knows how to get everyone in a zen state of mind🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️. We had a friendly competition between the houses this week. Staff and residents competed to created the best Halloween Monster. It was a morning filled with teamwork, creativity, connection & lots of fun! We think the monsters turned out pretty cute. Uh, er, we mean scary!👺👿🫣🎃
We made leaf bowls with Shae for the Red Barn sale on October 17th, we loved all the Hank visits🐶, we are thankful to Mark Harmon for Faith with Friends ✝️, we enjoyed taking rides around the farm and neighborhood on the side by side 🛺, and we enjoyed walks and sitting on the patios enjoying the beautiful weather☀️🍁🧡.

Tuesday we did a fun and creative pumpkin craft, we danced, and we went to Sonic for chocolate milkshakes🥤.
Wednesday we did puzzles, made caramel apple cake with Shae🍎, and enjoyed being outside visiting with residents from all the farmhouses🏠.
Thursday we enjoyed live music with Karen🎸, enjoyed Hank Visits🐶, played board games while it rained, and enjoyed having Tavion volunteer. Friday we were treated to a car show with the Corvette Club🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️,
And we interacted with the BV CAPS students. The students learned about the Gems in the brain lab then interacted with all the residents. It was a beautifully, sunny day on the farm. We end the week with happy hearts, big smiles, and great care from our AMAZING PEC Care Teams. Life is just better on the farm.
