Dry air will continue to remain in place Today and will combine with dry fuels and drought conditions to promote an environment prone to wildfire ignitions. Please follow your county or parish burn ban guidance.

🔥 Our busy weekend continued this morning with a pasture fire.

A special thanks to our community for making it possible for us to have multifunctional equipment that helps us respond quickly and effectively to fires like this one. Your support makes a difference!

8:20pm Update: The fire has been contained and will continue to be monitored.

🚨 New London VFD, Overton VFD, and Texas Forest Service are on scene of a woods fire in the vicinity of Pinkston St and CR 111 near New London. 🚨

‼️ Please avoid Pinkston St as there is a heavy presence of emergency vehicles and personnel.‼️

10/16/2026

New London VFD along with Carlisle VFD and Texas A&M Forest Service are on scene of large grass/woods fire located between CR 4148 and CR 4105. Heavy smoke will be visible from State Highway 64.

Please be aware of emergency personnel in the area.

10/16/2026

A strong cold front will usher in very dry air today as relative humidity plummets between 25 to 35 percent with winds gusting out of the north up to 30+ mph at times. As a result, a Red Flag Warning is in effect with the threat of rapid start and spread of wildfires.

10/16/2026

🚩 Rusk County and surrounding areas are now under a Red Flag Warning indicating that incoming weather conditions will increase fire danger due to potentially high winds and low humidity🚩

‼️While we are still under a burn ban, there have been a number of illegal burn calls recently. Please be aware that outdoor burning is prohibited and the current weather pattern will only make burning more hazardous.‼️
