Owatonna Public Utilities Owatonna Public Utilities is a municipal electric, natural gas, and water utility in Owatonna, Minnesota.

Owatonna Public Utilities is a community-owned, not-for-profit water, electric and natural gas supplier, created by local residents more than 80 years ago to provide high quality, affordable services tailored to the unique needs of the Owatonna area. Owatonna Public Utilities serves 11,300 electric, 10,000 natural gas and 9,400 water customers. Annual Revenues top $60 million, and about 2.5 percent of gross revenues are contributed to the City annually in lieu of taxes to further support the community. To provide the high quality services Owatonna Public Utilities customers have grown accustomed to a staff of full-time professionals provide virtually uninterrupted services on demand - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Yesterday we presented Aire Apartments with a rebate check for $11,596! 🎉

Their energy efficiency upgrades included:
✅ Commercial boiler
✅ Natural gas water heaters
✅ LED lighting
✅ Air-source heat pump
✅ ENERGY STAR® dishwashers

Together, these improvements will save an estimated 40,489 kWh and 2,282 therms each year. Congratulations to Aire Apartments, and thank you for investing in a more energy-efficient community! 💡

Last week, we were excited to present the Owatonna Wastewater Treatment Facility with a rebate check for $98,450.44 for installing variable speed drives on their production motors. These drives allow motors to run only as fast as needed, cutting energy use and costs.

Combined with earlier projects for LED lighting and a high-efficiency boiler, these upgrades will provide over 2.2 million kilowatt-hours of electric energy savings and 989 therms of natural gas savings annually!

Congratulations to the WWTF team on their commitment to saving energy. These upgrades will continue to pay off for years to come.

As Public Power Week comes to a close, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by our open house! It was wonderful to welcome members of our community into our lobby. We also hope you enjoyed following along with our "Meet Your Utility" series this week, which offered a behind-the-scenes look at the people and work that keep Owatonna powered every day.

Yesterday, we were honored to celebrate the dedication of the Roger Warehime Community Room. Thank you to all who joined us in recognizing Roger and his lasting contributions. We look forward to seeing this space bring our community together for years to come.
