It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Firefighter Richard (Dick) Mundt. Dick has been a member of the Owego Fire Department for 60 years serving as firefighter, ambulance driver, and Emergency Service Support (ESS), among other duties. He will certainly be missed not just at the station, but all around town. He always had a smile and an infectious laugh. Please keep his wife Mary and all his family in your thoughts and prayers. Information on services for Dick will be shared when available.

Congratulations on your retirement from NYS Fire Doug Gordner

Starting off as a young firefighter with Owego Fire Department it’s been been an honor watching your dedicated service to New York State Fire. We appreciate the support you provided to us here in Tioga County.

You have left a footprint (or maybe a boot to the butt 😝) to many firefighter.

Enjoy your well earned retirement, and remember we are always looking for volunteers (could be a full circle moment).

Missing from Last night Banquet was Dick and Mary Mundt. Dick has been hospitalized for medical issues, and was in rehab at Susquehanna Nursing Home. The Fire Chiefs visited him on Thursday 10/8 to present him with a 60 years of Service Award. He was in good spirits and enjoyed the visit and was honored to received the award. Sadly the next day he was taken back to the Emergency Room, and is currently in ICU. Please lift them in your prayers.
