According to Chabad, there are more than 3,500 Chabad houses worldwide — in cities and rural communities, in the mountains and on islands. Some cater primarily to college students, while others serve young families. In Baltimore, however, one Chabad house stands out for its mission and the communi...

Most veterans would rather have their health than a 100% rating.

Compensation isn't a reward. It's what your service cost you.

Consider shopping at Market Maven Baltimore. You will find a menorah which you can deposit the coins from your charity box into as a way to support local veterans. I wonder if we can fill it to the top this holiday season.

You Are Not Forgotten.

Today is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. Across our country, we pause to honor the sacrifices of American service members held as prisoners of war and those who remain missing in action across all conflicts.

The stark black-and-white POW/MIA emblem - designed by WWII veteran Newt Heisley - embodies the sorrow, enduring anxiety, and steadfast hope of families awaiting answers.

As we enter this Shabbat, we observe Shabbat Shuva - the Shabbat of "Return" - and read in Parashat Ha’azinu: “Zechor yemot olam” - Remember the days of old.

In Jewish tradition, memory is never passive; it is an active duty. So too is the fundamental principle of accounting for and redeeming our captives. On this Shabbat of Return, our hearts and prayers are with every American service member who has not yet returned home.

Jewish War Veterans of the USA Post 167 reaffirms our solemn promise: we will continue to honor their service, stand beside their families, and demand full accountability until every single one is brought home.

May their service and sacrifices never be forgotten, and may the memories of those who perished be for an eternal blessing.

“Until they all come home.”

Shabbat Shalom. 🇺🇸

🖖 Happy 60th Birthday, Star Trek!

Exactly 60 years ago today - on September 8, 1966 - the very first episode of Star Trek aired on television, launching a universe that changed science fiction forever.

Share your memories of Star Trek in the comments below.

Did you know that the legendary Mr. Spock - Leonard Nimoy - was a proud Jewish American veteran?

Before boarding the Starship Enterprise, Nimoy served in the U.S. Army / U.S. Army Reserve (1953-1955) in Special Services, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He also brought his heritage directly into television history: the iconic Vulcan salute was inspired by the gesture made by the Kohanim during the Priestly Blessing (Birkat Kohanim) that he witnessed in synagogue as a young boy in Boston.

That heritage is making world history today: for Star Trek’s 60th anniversary, London’s Science Museum is hosting an official Guinness World Records attempt for the most people performing the Vulcan salute simultaneously.

Today, we honor the creators and veterans who helped shape science fiction and pop culture. Live Long and Prosper! 🖖✨
