October is Fire Prevention Month - a good time to think about safety and check things around your home.

-ALARMS: Maintain smoke and carbon monoxide alarms on every level of your home, inside every bedroom, and outside sleeping areas. Test them monthly, and replace if they've reached the end of their 10-year service life

-BATTERIES - CHARGE SAFELY: Use only approved chargers that came with your electronic device; only charge devices and tools on HARD surfaces, never soft ones like couches and beds, charge big toys and tools outdoors, and once charged....unplug!

-EXTINGUISHERS: Check your fire extinguishers and know their locations

-ESCAPE PLAN: Know two escape routes out of your home where possible, have a plan and meeting place

-SPACE HEATERS: Space heaters need space....3 feet all around

-CHIMNEY and DRYER VENTS: When's the last time you had those checked and cleaned?
