🌿 Childhood needs room to explore, imagine, and discover. In Waldorf education, unstructured outdoor play is an important part of a child’s development. Given the time and freedom to follow their curiosity, children create their own games, solve problems, navigate friendships, and build confidence in their abilities.
Time in nature offers its own lessons, too. Climbing, balancing, collecting treasures, observing seasonal changes, and exploring the world through the senses help children develop coordination, creativity, resilience, and a lasting connection to the natural world.
Not every lesson needs to begin with a planned activity. Sometimes, the most valuable learning happens when children have the freedom to play, wonder, and find their own way. 🍃
