Our crews recently spent time training on rope rescue operations, focusing on essential skills used when responding to rescues involving steep terrain, elevated areas, and other challenging environments.

Hands-on training like this helps our firefighters build confidence, improve teamwork, and stay prepared to operate safely when someone needs help.

You never know who might roll into the firehouse! 🚲🚒

Today, we had the chance to meet Stephen Aslin, a former London firefighter who stopped by Pacific Fire during his 30,000-mile bicycle journey around the world.

Stephen set out from Grenfell Tower in London in June 2025, riding in memory of the 72 people who lost their lives in the 2017 fire. After making his way around the globe, he hopes to eventually finish his journey right where it began.

Firefighters may be separated by thousands of miles, but there’s always a connection when our paths cross.

It was great meeting you, Stephen! Thanks for stopping by Pacific, and safe travels on the many miles ahead! 🚲🌎🔥

When tragedy strikes one of our neighbors, our community has a way of coming together.

Last week, a family in our community lost their home, and Meramec Ambulance District and Pacific Fire Protection District are joining together to help support them as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding and moving forward.

For the next two weeks (final collection day is Sunday, September 27), we will be accepting donations for the family at:

📍 Pacific Fire Protection District – Station 1
910 West Osage Street

📍 Meramec Ambulance District – Station 1
429 East Osage Street

Items currently needed include:
Women’s:
• Large pants
• XL shirts, sweaters, and hoodies

Teenage Girl:
• Small–Medium shirts
• Sweaters and hoodies
• Medium pants
• Shoes, sizes 7–8

Additional needs:
• Storage totes
• Art, drawing, and coloring activities

We will also be accepting donations for Stray Rescue to help support the dogs in their care.
🐾 Dog food
🐾 Dog toys
🐾 Blankets
🐾 Dog beds
🐾 Dog treats

In moments like these, even the smallest act of kindness can mean more than we realize. A donated sweatshirt, a pair of shoes, a coloring activity, or a bag of dog food may seem simple, but together those acts remind a family that they are not facing this alone.

We are incredibly fortunate to serve a community that looks out for one another. Thank you to everyone who has already offered support and to everyone who continues to come together for this family and the animals affected during this difficult time.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was forever changed.

Pacific Fire Protection District remembers the lives lost on September 11, 2001, including the FDNY firefighters who answered the call and never returned home.

Today, we honor their courage, their sacrifice, and the families and first responders forever changed by that day.

We remember the fallen. We honor their sacrifice. We will never forget.

The furry friends we rescued during yesterday's fire are now available for foster from Stray Rescue of St. Louis!

Fire Truck, Ambulance, Tanker, Ladder Truck, & Brush Truck (four boys and one girl) have all been checked out and are needing homes. They are 3 months old, dog friendly and sweet as can be.

If you're able to foster, please visit Strayrescue.org/foster for more information.

For so many of us, our worst nightmare is experiencing a house fire. Would our family and pets get out in time? It’s so scary and heart wrenching to even imagine.

So, when our rescue dispatch team answered the phone and EMTs were on the other end, we knew we had to help. They responded to a house fire and rescued all these pups. The owner is being displaced from their home and can no longer care for them.

Cassady instantly said, “YES, we will help them all!” Our adoption managers, Joe & Tori said, “we’ll go set up their comfy spots with blankets, fresh water and food right now.”

Immediately, our entire team was engaged and wanted to help. The puppies have just arrived, and we named them Fire Truck, Ambulance, Tanker, Ladder Truck, & Brush Truck. Four boys, and one girl. They are being checked out by our medical team now. They came in smelling like smoke, but their lungs sound good. They are covered in fleas, but we’re giving them preventative so all the fleas will be eradicated within the hour.

Now they need YOUR help! We need foster homes for them TODAY! They are 3 months old, dog friendly, and sweet as can be. They just want comfort, love, and to be held. These little babies have been through so much already. Can you come foster one today? There are so many heroes involved in this story, and now we're calling on our community to be a hero, too. Strayrescue.org/foster

If you cannot foster, please make a donation today! All the puppies need to be spayed/neutered, get vaccinations, and given preventatives. Every dollar can make a world of difference: Strayrescue.org/house-fire

Check out this helmet cam video from yesterday’s structure fire!

Our crews encountered heavy smoke and fire upon arrival. First-in crews immediately made an aggressive interior attack while beginning a search of the structure.

Crews were quickly notified that multiple dogs were still inside. Firefighters rescued five dogs during the initial search, and then located two more dogs during a secondary search.

Meramec Ambulance provided emergency care to all seven animals, and we’re incredibly happy to report that all seven survived. 🐾❤️

It doesn’t matter who needs our help — WE’RE COMING, even for our furry friends!

Thank you to mutual aid that assisted us: Boles Fire Protection District, Eureka Fire Protection District, Metro West Fire Protection, Meramec Ambulance District.

☀️ Dangerous heat is on the way!

As our area prepares for a prolonged stretch of dangerous heat this week, we remind you to stay prepared.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-to-upper 90s, with heat index values potentially reaching around 105, increasing the risk for heat-related illness.

Here are some tips to stay prepared:

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day — don’t wait until you’re thirsty.

🧢 Limit outdoor activities, especially during the hottest part of the afternoon.

🌡️ Take frequent breaks in air conditioning or shade if you must work outside.

👵 Check on elderly family members, neighbors and others who may be more vulnerable to extreme heat.

🐶 Make sure pets have access to shade and plenty of fresh water, and avoid walking them during the hottest part of the day.

🚗 Never leave children, pets or anyone else in a parked vehicle — even for a few minutes.

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and act quickly if someone begins experiencing symptoms. If you experience an emergency, call 9-1-1.

Please stay cool, stay hydrated and look out for your neighbors this week. ❤️

We hope we didn’t worry our neighbors in Westlake today when our crew was pre-planning the best positions to use our aerial ladder.
