Four Rivers Behavioral Health will be hosting our rescheduled event titled “Art for Healing” on Saturday, November 7th, from 10:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M in the back parking lot of Four Rivers Behavioral Health at 5th and Jefferson.

You’re invited to join us to get ready for the holidays in downtown Paducah with Four Rivers Behavioral Health Foundation’s Art for Healing Auction and Wellness Event. Make us a part of your holiday shopping and support local artists for a great cause.

The event will benefit the Four Rivers Behavioral Health Charitable Foundation. Art for Healing is a community celebration that brings together local artists, organizations, businesses, advocates, and community members to promote mental wellness, inspire hope, and raise awareness about the importance of accessible mental health services. Through art and connection, we aim to create a welcoming space where individuals and families can learn about resources that support overall health and well-being. The main attraction of the event will be a silent art auction featuring client created pieces and a live auction at 12:00 P.M. featuring unique works created by local artists. In addition to community partner vendors, there will be activities for all ages including face and pumpkin painting.

Plus, there will be a 24” x 36” oil painting by local artist Tommy Fletcher that will completed LIVE at the event and raffled off. Raffle tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased at the event or at Four Rivers Behavioral Health prior.

Join us this Saturday for Fall DEA Drug Takeback Day! Gather your unneeded and expired medications for safe disposal at the event, no questions asked.

FALL DRUG TAKE-BACK EVENT

The Paducah Police Department and McCracken County ASAP (Agency for Substance Abuse Policy) will partner for the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which will be held on Saturday, October 24th, from 10 AM to 12 PM in the parking lot of the Purchase District Health Department, 916 Kentucky Avenue in Paducah. The event provides residents with a safe, anonymous way to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications.

During the event, officials will only accept pills and patches. Items such as liquids, needles, syringes, vapes, or inhalers will not be collected. The community can drive through, drop off their medications, and leave with no questions asked.

Medicines that remain in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion and misuse. Rates of prescription drug misuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. In Kentucky, the number of pediatric overdose and ingestion cases has increased by 104% over the last five years.

By participating in Take Back Day, the public can reduce the risk of misuse, theft, accidental ingestion, and diversion by removing potentially dangerous unneeded medications from homes.

The Paducah Police Department urges community members to bring their unused prescriptions to designated drop-off locations to help keep them out of circulation. There will also be vendors available during the event providing free resources.

We're proud to partner with the McCracken County Public Library on their new self-check kiosk initiative to reduce barriers and stigma on patrons checking out needed resources. This kiosk will allow patrons to discreetly check out books and movies on difficult topics including substance misuse and recovery. A patron may be holding a book on substance misuse or recovery, afraid to bring it to the desk because their family member or friend sits behind the desk. Perhaps it's a book on domestic violence, divorce, gender identity, bullying, mental health, or other reasons that brought on the substance misuse in the first place. By offering a self-check solution, that patron can check out the items they need and start their healing journey without fearing someone may tell someone else. As self-check kiosks have become more prevalent in libraries, libraries have reported seeing higher circulation of items related to these topics. This privacy reduces barriers to checking out sensitive subject matter that may be suppressed due to embarrassment or stigma.

Recovery is not one-size-fits-all. People recover in different ways, and every pathway that supports health, healing, and wellbeing deserves dignity and respect.
