🚐 **𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗲!**

The City of Page was pleased to host the Cruise America RV Mega FAM Tour, welcoming 20 travel industry professionals from across Europe who explored our region in a caravan of 10 RVs!

While the group encountered some rough weather during their journey north, particularly around Prescott, they were treated to some beautiful weather during their time in Page.

During their visit, the group enjoyed a boat tour into Antelope Canyon and a stop at the iconic Horseshoe Bend. Several participants also had the opportunity to experience Upper Antelope Canyon.

The group stayed at Wahweap RV & Campground, providing a great opportunity to experience the Lake Powell area as an RV travel destination. Their Cruise America RVs were impressive, offering comfortable accommodations and just about everything needed to enjoy life on the road.

Familiarization tours like this are an important opportunity to introduce international travel professionals to Page and the surrounding region, giving them firsthand experiences they can share with travelers back home.

A big thank you to Cruiser America, Arizona Office of Tourism and everyone who helped make this visit possible. We enjoyed welcoming the group to Page and hope they left with some great memories of our community and the incredible destinations that surround us!

🤝 𝗨𝗦𝗗𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀

At first glance, USDA's Cooperative Services page appears to be geared toward agricultural businesses. However, the resources apply to any type of cooperative, and several could help address needs here in Page.

Cooperatives are businesses owned and run by their members, whether those are workers, customers, or other businesses. According to USDA, they can help fill gaps in housing, grocery, childcare, home care, and financial services where traditional investors may not step in.

📍 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆

▪️ Business owners nearing retirement without a buyer can sell to their employees as a worker cooperative, keeping the business and jobs in town
▪️ Housing cooperatives can give local workers a path to build equity instead of paying rent
▪️ Community-owned grocery or childcare cooperatives can serve needs the market hasn't met

💰 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴

Cooperatives may qualify for USDA Rural Development programs, including Rural Business Development Grants, Rural Economic Development Loans and Grants, Business and Industry Loan Guarantees, and the Intermediary Relending Program.

𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗔𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲

The City of Page has released its September economic report, and it shows a local economy moving in two directions. Lodging revenue continues to decline, while construction, commercial leasing, and new business activity are all growing.

On the lodging side, July lodging tax collections came in at about $666,000, down from roughly $903,000 a year ago. Because lodging makes up more than a third of the City's monthly tax revenue, that decline brought total July sales tax collections to about $1.79 million, down from $1.95 million last July. August hotel performance was the softest month of the year, and five of six comparison markets across the region declined as well, including Las Vegas.

On the growth side, construction related tax collections rose sharply, commercial leasing increased, and 200 more businesses reported revenue in July than a year earlier. More than 650 lodging units and roughly 345 housing units are currently proposed or under development, including workforce and student housing. Visitor spending is running about 60% above 2018 levels, and nearly 40% of domestic visitors are repeat visitors.

The City invested approximately $36,000 in visitor marketing during August, concentrated in the regional drive markets that send Page the most domestic visitors. Website traffic and social media engagement each rose about 20% compared to last August. A larger international campaign with Brand USA, partially funded by the Arizona Office of Tourism, begins in the coming months and will run alongside the City's current international booking platform campaigns. The City's new visitor data platform will allow these efforts to be measured against actual visitation for the first time.
