🌀 HURRICANE NOLO WATER PREPAREDNESS NOTICE

You know the drill, as Nolo approaches, Hawaiian Beaches Water Company encourages all customers to prepare now:

• Store an adequate supply of drinking water for every member of your household, including pets.
• Fill clean, food-safe containers with water for drinking, cooking and hygiene.
• Make sure you know where your home’s main water shutoff valve is located and how to turn it off.
• Avoid unnecessary water use before, during and immediately after the storm.

If our community is impacted:

• Please report damaged homes, fallen trees, flooding, exposed pipes or other storm damage near HBWC water mains and service lines as soon as it is safe to do so.
• If your home or private water lines are damaged or leaking, immediately isolate the damage by turning off your property’s water shutoff valve, if it is safe to access, and contact our office.
• Never approach fallen power lines, unstable trees or flooded areas to inspect a water leak.
• Please conserve water following the storm, especially if there is a power outage or damage to the water system. Our generator allows us to run several days without power, and in the past we have been able to get back online within 3-4 days with Helco. If the power is out for more then several day or we loose access to fuel or if there is significant damage to water lines we could have water interruption.
• Continue to treat your tap water as safe unless HBWC issues an official boil-water or other public-health notice. Please follow official HBWC updates rather than rumors or unofficial posts.

Our team will assess the water system and respond to reported damage as quickly and safely as conditions allow.

🌀 1:00 p.m. Hurricane Lala Update

We are happy to report that we have been back on HELCO power since last night! We are stoked that we were able to keep everyone’s water flowing the last several days and are so grateful for the relief and for the opportunity to return home to our families and finally get a good night’s rest after working to keep the generator running.

As crews begin repairing streets where trees and power lines are still down, please let us know immediately if any waterlines are damaged. During the cleanup after Hurricane Iselle, several waterlines were accidentally damaged by repair crews and heavy machinery.

Please continue to stay safe, and let’s hope power is restored to our entire community very soon.

And tonight enjoy a nice, long shower! 🚿

🌀 Hurricane Lala Update — 10:00 a.m.
Monday, August 17, 2026

Hawaiian Beaches Water Company is still operating on backup generator power. At this time, we have enough diesel to continue supplying water to the subdivision.

Please continue conserving water for essential use only, including drinking, cooking and quick showers to cool off from the humidity.

Our office is open today. However, keeping enough propane available to operate the office generator may become more difficult. We will provide an update if our office hours or availability change.

We are aware of rumors circulating on Nextdoor claiming that we can no longer supply water. This is not true. Our water system remains operational.

If you use Nextdoor, please help us correct this misinformation and encourage your neighbors to follow Hawaiian Beaches Water Company’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts for accurate, up-to-date information.

Thank you for conserving water and helping us keep the community informed. Stay safe! 💧

Thank you for your continued cooperation and for helping us conserve water while the system remains on backup power.

Water System Update

Power has now been restored by HELCO, a big mahalo to the crews who worked throughout the night to repair the downed power lines. Our system is currently back on HELCO power, and our backup generator remains operational if needed.

A special thank you again to Mark, who spent many hours throughout the night ensuring the system continued operating safely.

Please continue to conserve water as the storm continues, and please notify us if you see any damage to water lines or suspect plumbing issues at your home or in your neighborhood.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Water System Update

A huge shout out to Mark, who has been out in this storm working diligently to locate parts and get our backup generator running again. The system is now back online for the time being and we still have water in the tank.

However, with the high winds, and the power still out we ask that you continue to refrain from non-essential water use so we can maintain a safe level of water in the system.

If your home or a neighbor’s home has suffered significant damage and you suspect plumbing or water line damage, please shut off the water at your meter box and notify us as soon as possible.

If you see trees down and suspect damage to water mains, please notify the office so we can make repairs or isolate the area and continue supplying safe drinking water to the rest of the subdivision.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and support while we work through these conditions.

Emergency Water Notice – Effective Immediately for Hawaiian Beaches Customers

Please reduce water usage to emergency use only.

Our backup generator has failed, and there are downed power lines on Punawai Street. Because of this, we currently have no power to our wells and are unable to refill our water tank. Once the tank is empty, water service will be interrupted until HELCO is able to restore power.

Please conserve as much water as possible and be mindful of your neighbors so we can extend the available supply for the community.

We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

03/14/2026

Due to widespread power outages from the Kona storm, our system is currently operating on our backup generator.

Please make sure you have water on hand for drinking and sanitary purposes. We ask that you refrain from non-essential water use throughout the day so we can maintain a safe level of water in the system.

Our team is on standby and prepared to respond to any water line breaks as soon as it is safe to do so.

If phone lines go down, we will post an emergency cell phone number for customer contact.

During Iselle, we were able to reach most customers through our page. Please help spread the word to friends and neighbors in Hawaiian Beaches Subdivision to follow our page by sharing this post so we can continue to keep everyone informed.

Stay safe, everyone.
