The Palatine Township Road District maintains the right-of-way of many of the streets in all unincorporated areas.

With few exceptions, that right-of-way is 66 feet wide or 33 feet from the center of the street to the property line.

Our aged compost has once again been made available, this time for your autumnal yard projects. Stockpiles are located at the Town Hall and our material yard on Smith Street. Compost is replenished every morning or afternoon, if needed. Hurry as this material is quickly consumed!

Our 2026 Capital Infrastructure Project is coming to an end. We expect up place an additional 400 tons of surface course today in the Forest Estates Subdivision. This will top-off the total tonnage of hot-mix asphalt resurfacing around 3,600 tons, 28000 square yards of milling, over 700 feet of curb and gutter replacement, and over a dozen manhole adjustments. We deeply appreciate your patience due to the elongated construction schedule.

Now that the City of Rolling Meadows’ portion of Oaksbury Lane reconstruction is complete, the paving contractor will literally pave himself out of a corner beginning on Tuesday, after Labor Day. Butt joints and saw-cuts were made in preparation to placing surface course on Oaksbury Lane and California Avenue in the Forest Estates Subdivision. Thank you for your continued patience as this project is finally completed.

Due to past inclement weather, our contractor was able to get out this morning to spray a pavement restoration oil, Reclamite, with a topcoat of sand to the roadways in the Tiburon Subdivision and Nichols Road. Reclamite helps to restore the asphalt’s durability and flexibility against the weather and traffic. Expect the contractor to sweep the fines tomorrow. Once again, thank you for your patience!

Next week, America will celebrate its 250th Anniversary of the signing of The Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. For reference, the Revolutionary War already began a year before with the Battles of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775. Then eight years later, on September 3, 1783, at the Treaty of Paris, Great Britain recognizes the United States of America as a free, sovereign, and independent nation!

Strong storms are at our doorstep tonight and into tomorrow evening. Please plan for loss of power and wind damage. After the storm passes and damage has occurred, please notify emergency services and utility companies. Whether it’s a down wire or tree, they will clear the roadway for safe passage.

Based on the current edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), the national standard set by The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices, new traffic signs are being installed today in Forest Estates as part of our 2026 Capital Infrastructure Project. The new signs will improve safety for motorists in a standardized fashion along with an increased retroreflectivity for night time travel.
