Love how you can see The Music Business through the corner now! What a difference from a year ago... and such beautiful Christmas Trees inside on this end of the building thanks to CASA's entry in the Festival of Trees!

Replacement bricks are being put in place on the Spring St side where they had fallen a few years ago... historic lime mortar has to be protected from direct sun and kept moist for 72 hours to cure properly, so we hung a wet drop cloth today to help insure success! One of many details important for long life in an historic building! 🙂

Amazing brick work in action... The Crutcher family (Justin, Ted and Riley) pulled the section of face bricks that had started to separate from the structural bricks back into place, saving the historic bricks in place! Very creative and effective approach!
Now that the bricks are back in place, Helical Wall Ties will be carefully used to secure them preventing any future separation. Yea, Crutcher Masonry! Job well done!

Mysteries of the Gregg-Link... you know about the archway at dirt level on the north basement wall, connecting to the building next door, right? We just found a huge brick structure under the floors on the south portion of the building, too... at least 6' tall, 11' wide, and 16' long. No openings we can see and it connects to the west wall of the building. What was this for??

Matching up the bottom external wood to the original... plus a little brick repair needed where they were weakened by the old gas line (long gone) and finally crumbled during the restoration work!

Making good progress on the last storefront! So much detail work goes into this effort... from Jon preparing the wood for the fresh paint to Randy building a jig to guide his routing of the slot into which the bottom sill extends. The last photo shows a similar but different sill under the transom windows. We so appreciate the talents of the men who know how to do this re-creative work...

The new BIG piece of glass is in! Woo-hoo! What a nice contrast it is to what it was... looked just like the next one down!

We tackled this corner at Sycamore & Main a few years ago. It was in such disrepair, and had been boxed-in, it appeared hopeless. But with Jerry Pyle and Henry Scoggin's help, the original was recreated using Norman Alston's design details. The results were stunning! I still remember the first sight of the "opened up" corner took my breath away...
