📣 BIG NEWS, MAT-SU! SAVE THE DATE: JUNE 3-6, 2027! 🐾

Mat-Su Animal Care and Regulation is excited to partner with Greater Good Charities’ Veterinary Services Team to bring a free veterinary spay/neuter clinic to the Mat-Su Valley June 3-6, 2027, at Houston High School.

During this four-day clinic, pets will have access to free spay/neuter surgeries, with additional preventive services potentially available as planning continues and clinic details are finalized. The clinic is intended to help pet owners who face challenges accessing preventive care due to cost, travel distance, or other barriers, while working alongside the local veterinary community to improve animal health and welfare throughout the borough.

This event will only be possible because of the people and organizations willing to step up and help. While we're still in the early stages of planning, we're excited to work with community members, local veterinarians, businesses, and partner organizations to bring this opportunity to Mat-Su pet owners. In the coming months, we'll be looking for volunteers, sponsors, donations, and community partners who want to help make this event a success.

Ways you can help:
🐾 Volunteer during the event
🐾 Sponsor meals, snacks, or beverages for the clinic team and volunteers
🐾 Provide lodging or housing support for visiting staff and volunteers
🐾 Donate supplies or equipment
🐾 Sponsor community activities or local experiences for the visiting team
🐾 Assist with event logistics and transportation
🐾 Help spread the word about volunteer opportunities

Greater Good Charities brings an incredible team of veterinary professionals and volunteers, but events like this don't happen without local support. As the host community, we'll be working together to coordinate housing, meals, volunteers, supplies, transportation, and all the other details that help make an event of this size successful.

We've already had some encouraging conversations and are excited to continue building partnerships as planning moves forward. Our goal is to create an event that complement the services already available throughout our community while helping more pet owners access preventative care for their animals.

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact for pets and their families across the Valley. If you'd like to volunteer, sponsor, donate, or partner with us, we'd love to hear from you.

There is still time to let your voice be heard on the West Susitna Access Project. Today, October 13, is the last day.

Alaska Residents - Here is your opportunity to let your voice be heard on the West Susitna Access Road! The project will provide Alaskans with improved access to millions of acres of State lands, along with many new rivers and lakes, and will create incredible new economic and career opportunities in the state.

Please consider providing a comment to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in support of AIDEA's application for a federal permit for the West Susitna Access Project by Tuesday, October 13th!
You may e-mail your comments directly to: [email protected] or, submit online at https://rrs.usace.army.mil/rrs .

Write a few sentences explaining WHY you support the West Susitna Access Project. This may be reasons such as:
- More opportunities for the public to access state land to fish, hunt, and recreate.
- The great jobs it will create.
- Responsible development of Alaska's resources.
- A domestic supply of critical minerals and energy resources right from Alaska.
- New opportunities for more road-accessible home and cabin sites.
- The road will get Alaska residents closer to places they want to reach, including private lands and cabins.
- The road will get Alaska residents closer to rivers and lakes.
- New opportunities for agriculture, forestry, and tourism.
- A way for first responders to fight wildfires in the region.
The West Susitna Access Project will unlock more than just stranded resources; it will make inaccessible land more accessible for ALL Alaska residents.
