🎃👻 HEY FLUVANNA… IT'S ALMOST TIME FOR TRICKS, TREATS & SPOOKY STREETS!

Halloween is TOMORROW, and we want to remind everyone that the scariest thing about Halloween should be the costumes, not the roadways!

But first… let's talk about October 30th, also known as Mischief Night!

🧻 A quick public service announcement:
Before you grab that 24-pack of toilet paper and head out on a decorating mission, remember three things:

Toilet paper isn't cheap, trees don't flush, and doorbell cameras don't take Halloween off!

Keep the tricks harmless, the pranks friendly, and the TP where it belongs! Now, a few reminders before the Halloween fun begins:

🍬 Parents: Keep your little ghosts and goblins close, make sure they're visible, and remind them to look both ways before crossing.

🚗 Drivers: Slow down, put the distractions away, and be extra alert for excited trick-or-treaters!

🔦 Trick-or-Treaters: Stay in groups, carry a light, and be visible.

From all of us at the Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office, have a safe, fun, and frightfully fantastic Halloween! 🎃

Be safe, be smart, and let's keep the spooky stuff fun, Fluvanna!

Today, we’re proud to recognize the first responders who serve Fluvanna County. It’s an honor to work alongside our partners at our Fire Departments across the county, Lake Monticello Fire and Rescue, Fluvanna County Emergency Services, and every responder who shows up for our community.

We see your compassion, courage, and commitment in the moments when people need you most. You are more than colleagues, you are neighbors and friends who make this community stronger. We’re grateful to stand beside you and serve alongside you.

To all our first responders: thank you for all you do, today and every day. 💙

🚶‍♀️🚗 SEE AND BE SEEN!

Whether you're behind the wheel or out for a walk, safety is everyone's responsibility!

Drivers: Slow down, stay alert, and always watch for pedestrians.

Pedestrians: Use crosswalks, wear visible clothing, and make sure drivers see you before crossing.

A few extra seconds of caution can prevent a lifetime of heartache. It's getting dark earlier, pay attention out there!

💜 EVERY LINK IN THE CHAIN. ONE UNITED MISSION. TOGETHER FOR A SAFER FLUVANNA.

As Domestic Violence Awareness Month begins to wind down, we want to share a photo that represents so much more than a group of people standing together.

This photo represents every link in the chain. Every step toward safety, support, and justice.

The Emergency Communications Officer who answers that first call for help.

The Deputy who responds when someone needs protection.

The Investigator who searches for answers and works to uncover the truth.

The Victim/Witness Advocate who walks alongside victims, offering compassion, guidance, and support throughout the process.

The Court Bailiff who helps provide a safe courtroom where victims can have their voices heard.

The Prosecutor who upholds the law, pursues justice, and works to hold offenders accountable.

💜Different roles. One team. One unwavering commitment.💜

The Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office takes domestic violence seriously. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our partners, united in our commitment to protecting victims, supporting survivors, and holding offenders accountable.

There is no place for domestic violence in Fluvanna County.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please reach out. You deserve to feel safe, to be heard, and to know that you do not have to face it alone.

October may be coming to an end, but our commitment never will.

🚗 Teen Driver Safety Week 🚗

Getting a driver’s license means freedom, independence, and new opportunities. But it also comes with a responsibility that can’t be taken lightly.

In 2024, 2,320 people were killed in crashes involving a teen driver ages 15 to 18. Of those, 752 were teen drivers themselves.

And it’s not just the person behind the wheel.

478 passengers were killed in crashes involving a teen driver, and 280 of those passengers were teenagers riding with another teen.

Those aren’t just numbers. They represent sons, daughters, siblings, classmates, teammates, and friends who never made it home. 💙

Parents, talk with your teen drivers. Teens, look out for yourselves and the friends riding beside you.

🚗 New license. New freedom. New responsibility.

Getting behind the wheel is a big milestone, but having the keys also means making choices that protect you, your passengers, and everyone else on the road.

🔒 Buckle up. Every trip. Every seat.
📵 Put the phone down and stay focused.
👥 Limit distractions and passengers.
🚦 Obey the speed limit.
👀 Stay alert and expect the unexpected.

One decision behind the wheel can change everything. You’ve got places to go, people to see, and plans ahead of you. Don’t let an avoidable mistake change them.
Your freedom comes with responsibility. Drive like your life and your friends’ lives depend on it, because they do.

Drive smart. Arrive safe. 💙
