Note to our customers:
We understand the frustration with the recent service interruption due to the line break and boil orders. We are customers on this service as well. It takes time to clear water that’s not up to standards.
Water quality has been an issue since 2021 when the Illinois EPA changed the protocols and chemicals that PM Water treats our water with. Subsequently, our water quality has often been an issue. Our operator, at the direction of the board, routinely flushes the system to help maintain and improve the water quality. We also are required by law to send in samples that are tested for safety and reported to the ILEPA on a regular basis. The water samples have passed test up to the time of this current line break. Those results came in today. That was the purpose of the boil order. The color and smell should clear even more with continued flushing and usage. Furthermore, we (the board) continue to explore options to improve the water quality, appearance, and taste with the limited resources we have and under the current protocols from ILEPA. We will work to provide more consistent quality in the future as we consider implementing different equipment and/or upgrades. We appreciate your patience with this process.
