Lifetimes of Service Award honoree Downtown Palo Alto Farmers Market was founded by community members in 1981 -- with a $1,500 loan from Avenidas -- to address a critical need for fresh, local food after the last grocery store in the area closed.
Over the years, the Farmers’ Market has grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of downtown Palo Alto. The proceeds of the market support the community, and to date it has donated more than $650,000 to Avenidas, funding critical programs and services.
