Muchas gracias a las familias que nos acompañaron en la ceremonia del 16 de septiembre donde por primera vez en la ciudad de Redwood City se izó la bandera mexicana. El alcalde Jeff Gee y Alicia Aguirre nos alentaron con sus palabras a seguir preparándonos y apoyarnos como comunidad. ¡Fue muy emotivo escuchar el himno nacional de USA y cantar todos juntos el himno nacional de México!

Esperamos que también, el domingo, hayan disfrutado el festejo de la Independencia Mexicana y de muchos otros países latinos.

Thank you to all the families who joined us for the ceremony on September 16th, where the Mexican flag was raised for the first time in Redwood City. Mayor Gee and Alicia Aguirre encouraged us through their words to continue supporting each other in our community. It was very emotional to hear the national anthem of the USA and to sing the national anthem of Mexico together!

We hope that you also enjoyed the celebration of Mexican Independence and many other Latin American countries this past Sunday.

We are absolutely thrilled and deeply honored to share that we've been bestowed with the prestigious 2023 Welcoming Award from Redwood City Together. Last night, Kim Zuno graciously accepted this esteemed recognition on behalf of our organization and all the families in our community during the City Council Meeting.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous funders who have played an indispensable role in enabling us to carry out this vital work within our beloved community. Your unwavering support empowers us to make a positive impact, and for that, we are immensely thankful! 💙

Extendemos nuestro agradecimiento a un comprometido y talentoso grupo de voluntarios de la misma comunidad de Familias Unidas, de AT&T y de la Fundación Hispana de Silicon Valley que se aseguraron que cada familia entendiera cómo acceder internet, y otras aplicaciones esenciales como Zoom. Las familias expresaron su agradecimiento y emoción de tener su primera computadora portátil.

Thank you to our amazing partners, the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley and AT&T Accessible Connectivity, for this wonderful opportunity to provide 100 laptops to families in our community. These laptops were distributed on Sunday, August 20th, at the North Fair Oaks Library in San Mateo County. We are so grateful for the dedicated and talented group of volunteers from the Familias Unidas community, AT&T, and the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley that ensured that every family understood how to access the internet and other essential applications like Zoom. Our families expressed their gratitude and excitement at having their first laptop!

In an era defined by technology, access to devices and connectivity is paramount, especially for residents living in the heart of Silicon Valley. These laptops aren't just tools; they represent a bridge to the future, a future where possibilities are boundless.

Zip Books is back!

The Library has reintroduced Zip Books, a service for requesting book materials that the Library does not already own. You can use this service to have qualifying books, audiobooks on CD, and large print materials shipped directly to you. Enjoy up to three items at a time at your own pace, then return them to the Downtown Library when you are finished. Learn more about this program here:

Las familias y los niños mayores de 8 años están invitados a ayudar a la artista Emily Fromm a pintar el Mural de la Comunidad Saludable en el paso de peatones de la Quinta Avenida en North Fair Oaks.

¡No se necesita experiencia!

Fromm ha diseñado los paneles del mural en avance, y ella y un equipo de asistentes van a ayudar a los voluntarios a pintarlos.
Todos los materiales están incluidos. Pedimos que los voluntarios traigan agua, bloqueador del sol, bocadillos, y llevar ropa cómoda que puedan manchar con pintura.

Another session of workshops has been successfully completed, and our Familias Unidas community continues to grow! We're truly amazed by the unwavering dedication shown by our families. We had a fantastic graduation event at the North Fair Oaks Library to celebrate their accomplishments this past weekend. Our families received books to add to their home libraries, summer craft materials, COVID home testing kits, and, of course, their well-deserved certificates of completion for the Familias Unidas workshop. A total of 176 proud parents graduated from this session! A special thank you to North Fair Oaks Library for providing the space and to Mirella and Paola from Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley for your continued support!
