Now that weather has cleared. We know everyone will be checking for damages. Here is a link to report damages to your homes.
On this 8th anniversary of Hurricane Michael, we are grateful that our community was spared the worst of Hurricane Isaias. But our neighbors to the west were not as fortunate.
We haven't forgotten the communities from all over the United States that came to our aid after Michael, and we're already looking ahead to how we can return that kindness. As soon as we can, we will mobilize resources to help our neighbors to our west begin their recovery.
Here at home, the work of assessing damage and cleaning up is under way. Some areas of Bay County were hit harder than others, particularly the West End of Panama City Beach, and we know many residents and businesses are dealing with damage, power outages, fallen trees and debris. Our crews are working to assess the impacts, clear roads and restore normal operations.
If your home or business sustained storm damage, please complete Bay County's damage assessment form:
https://arcg.is/OPqCP
This information helps us document storm impacts and supports reporting to FEMA. The form is separate from insurance claims and does not replace filing a claim with your insurance company.
As cleanup continues, please avoid unnecessary travel and give crews room to work. Stay away from downed power lines, standing water and debris, and treat intersections with nonworking traffic signals as four-way stops.
To our county and city employees, first responders, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, utility crews and community partners who have worked tirelessly before, during and after this storm, thank you.
And to our residents, thank you for looking out for one another. If Hurricane Michael taught us anything, it's the strength of this community and the importance of neighbors helping neighbors.
