🚨 PUBLIC NOTICE | TRAINING EXERCISE

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 24th, at 10:00 AM, multiple emergency response agencies will be participating in a planned active shooter training exercise at Panhandle High School.

Residents may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and personnel in the area.

We ask that the public please avoid the area and maintain a safe distance to allow first responders to conduct the exercise safely.

⚠️ This is only a training exercise. There is no actual emergency.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as our local agencies train together to better serve and protect our community!

🇺🇸 PUBLIC NOTICE

As the funeral procession honoring Staff Sergeant Sterling Shelton passes through Panhandle today, several emergency vehicles will be staged throughout town with their emergency lights activated.

There is no cause for alarm. This is simply our community’s way of honoring a fallen hero and showing our respect.

We ask everyone to be mindful of the procession as it passes through.

🚑 Interested in becoming an EMT?

Panhandle EMS is gauging interest in offering a local EMT class with a tentative start date of January 12th. The proposed schedule would be Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with one Saturday each month.

This form is only being used to determine local interest and does not guarantee class acceptance or enrollment. The forms will be used to reach out to students for an official application.

Class dates, cost, scholarships, and availability are subject to change. Possible scholarship opportunities may be available.

This class is being sponsored by Associated Ambulance Authority.

Southeastern Carson County remains under a Tornado Warning, and southeastern Potter County remains under a Tornado Warning.

Panhandle residents should stay weather-aware and remain prepared to move quickly to a storm cellar or other safe shelter if conditions worsen or a warning is issued. Keep your phone nearby, monitor local alerts, and know where you’ll go ahead of time.

A public storm cellar is available just east of the Panhandle EMS station.

Carson County Heroes is bringing our communities together for a day dedicated to the first responders who serve Carson County.

Come out, bring the family, check out the emergency vehicles and car show, grab some food, hit the foam party, browse the silent auction, and spend the day with the men and women who serve our communities every day.

We’re proud to have Fritch Fire, Groom Fire, Panhandle EMS, Panhandle Fire, Skellytown Fire, and White Deer Fire coming together for one big community event.
