đź’› World Su***de Prevention Day | September 10

Su***de is a public health issue that affects individuals, families, and communities everywhere.

According to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, 516 Kansas residents died by su***de in 2024.

Behind every number is a person who mattered. A family member. A friend. A coworker. A neighbor.

Today is a reminder that su***de prevention starts with connection. Check in with the people around you. Ask how they are really doing. Listen without judgment. You do not need to have the perfect words or know exactly what to say.

Sometimes, simply asking “Are you okay?” can open the door to a conversation that could make a difference.

đź’› If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available.

📞 Call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7.

Let's keep the conversation going. Let's check on our people. And let's remind one another that help is available, hope is possible, and no one has to face a difficult moment alone.

Today, during the Miami County Board of County Commissioners meeting, the Miami County Health Department WIC Program was honored to receive a proclamation recognizing National WIC Breastfeeding Week.
