From SUSD student to Arizona news anchor, Jaime Cerreta has built a career connecting with people across her home state. 🎥🎙️

Jaime attended Cherokee Elementary, Cocopah Middle School and Chaparral High School before beginning her career in journalism. Today, she is a news anchor at Arizona’s Family, where she shares stories with viewers across Arizona.

As SUSD celebrates 130 years of learning, we’re proud to recognize alumni like Jaime who got their start in our schools and continue to make an impact in the community they call home.

This week, Cherokee Elementary was featured on FOX 10 News for receiving the Bright Spot recognition! 🎉📚

This is one of many recognitions Cherokee has earned, and we are incredibly proud of our students, teachers, and staff! Being named a Bright Spot by The 74 recognizes schools where students are thriving in literacy education. Cherokee is among schools in the top 5% in Arizona for outpacing expectations in reading proficiency! ❤️🖤

This achievement reflects the dedication of our entire Cherokee community and the incredible work happening in our classrooms every day.
