🚲⚡ KNOW YOUR RIDE, PARADISE!⚡️🚲
The Paradise Police Department is working with Paradise Unified School District to help keep the children of our community safe, including on their rides to and from school.
We want kids to have fun, enjoy the outdoors and explore our community. The last thing any of us wants is for a child—or someone sharing the road or sidewalk—to get hurt. Helping families understand their child’s electric bicycle, motorcycle or scooter is an important part of preventing that.
These devices have different rules for rider ages, helmets, licensing and where they can be used. A vehicle advertised as an “e-bike” may actually be an electric motorcycle and may not be legal for your child to ride on public roads.
Parents and caregivers, please review the attached flyer with your children. Check their equipment, discuss their route and remind them to stop at stop signs, watch for pedestrians and ride responsibly around schools.
Unlawful riding can lead to citations, fines and impoundment costs—but most importantly, it can lead to our children being seriously hurt. Parents who knowingly allow an unlicensed child to operate a motor vehicle on public roads can also face citations. In circumstances involving child endangerment, arrest and criminal charges may be possible—not simply because a child committed a riding violation.
Keeping our kids safe takes all of us: families, schools and law enforcement working together. Let’s help them enjoy the ride and make it home safely. 💚💛
