Last week, The Network's staff gathered in New Jersey for a two-day retreat focused on strategic planning, collaboration, and looking ahead to the future.

As a remote team with colleagues working across the country from Denver to Florida and everywhere in between, opportunities to connect in person are especially meaningful!

The retreat gave our team valuable time to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships, and align around shared priorities as we continue working to support our member agencies and the communities they serve.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act brings tax changes for both workers and employers. Some cover tips and overtime pay, and others make employer help with student loans permanently tax-free.

Three years ago, the October 7 attacks changed Israel and Jewish communities around the world. Today, we remember those who were killed, those who survived, and the families and communities whose lives were forever changed.

For the first time as we mark this anniversary, all of the hostages are home. We are profoundly grateful for their return while recognizing that the effects of October 7 and the years that followed remain.

The Network continues to stand with our members and partners in Israel and with our member agencies supporting individuals, families and communities affected by trauma. We know this will remain a difficult anniversary for many in our community, and that remembering and healing will continue in the years ahead.

May the memories of those we lost be for a blessing.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act reshapes how SNAP works. Stricter work rules, new state costs, and thinner staffing could make benefits harder to keep and slower to access.

The Network is relieved to see the reinstatement of the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline “Press 3” services for LGBTQ+ youth. This critical lifeline was abruptly cut by the Administration last year despite the importance of specialized support for LGBTQ+ youth from trained professionals.

Over the past year, The Network and our U.S. member agencies have joined coalition partners and elected officials at all levels in calling for access to this service to be restored, including through organizational sign-on letters, action alerts, and direct meetings with Members of Congress and Administration officials. The Network continues to support bipartisan congressional legislation to codify specialized services for LGBTQ+ youth through 988 to ensure these critical services remain available and ongoing as an essential lifesaving resource for LGBTQ+ youth. We look forward to continuing this advocacy with our colleagues and partners.

We're proud to count JCS among our member agencies. Leaders like Miriam Singer show what Jewish human services mean for the social service safety net in communities everywhere.

Older adults will see both gains and new limits under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Home- and community-based care expands, but tighter home-equity rules could change who qualifies.

Changes under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act could stretch mental health services thinner, especially in rural areas. Longer waits and fewer providers may follow.
