🚓🚒🚑 NATIONAL FIRST RESPONDERS DAY 🚑🚒🚓

Today, we honor the men and women who run toward danger when others are running away.

To our fellow law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and every first responder who answers the call — THANK YOU!

Behind every uniform is a person who has chosen a life of service. Someone who misses family dinners, holidays, birthdays, and countless moments with loved ones because someone else needs help.

First responders witness some of life’s darkest moments, yet continue to show up with courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to their communities.

At the Millersburg Police Department, we are proud to stand alongside our fellow first responders. Different uniforms, different responsibilities, but one shared mission: To protect lives, serve others, and be there when it matters most.

Today, and every day, we recognize your sacrifices, your dedication, and the families who stand behind you.

Multiple Uniforms. One Mission. One First Responder Family.

Happy National First Responders Day!

BUCKLE UP, PARIS & BOURBON COUNTY!
The Paris Police Department and the Bourbon County Sheriff's Office are teaming up with the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety and Kentucky State Police for the High Five Rural Traffic Safety Project, a program to get more people buckled up on our rural roads.
Why it matters: your chance of surviving a crash is about 45% higher when you're wearing a seat belt. Airbags are designed to work WITH your belt, not replace it.
Every trip. Every seat. Every time.
• Buckle up, even for short drives
• Make sure every passenger is buckled, including in the back seat
• Use the right car seat or booster for children
• Set the example for family, friends and teen drivers

Paris and Bourbon County has already moved up in the state's rankings for serious crashes, and we can keep going together. Let's all get home safe to our families. ❤️

When did you last test your smoke alarms or change the batteries?

Working smoke detectors give you critical early warning and precious seconds to escape safely in the event of a home fire. Paris/Bourbon County E911 reminds our community to follow these simple safety steps:

Test Monthly: Press the test button on every smoke detector in your home once a month to ensure the unit is working properly.

Change Batteries Annually: Replace the batteries at least once a year, unless you have sealed 10-year lithium battery alarms.

Replace Units Every 10 Years: Smoke detectors lose their sensitivity over time. If your alarms are more than 10 years old, it's time to replace the entire unit.

Protect your family and home—a quick test today can save a life tomorrow!

When an emergency strikes in Paris or anywhere across Bourbon County, every single second counts for our police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel. Can our first responders find
you quickly in the dark or during a crisis? Please take a moment to check your property:

Make them visible: Ensure your house numbers are clearly posted and easy to read from the street.
Light them up: Keep numbers well-lit, especially at night or in rural areas.

Clear the view: Trim back trees, bushes, or holiday decorations that might block the numbers. Help us find you fast when it matters most!"

Tip 1: Know Your Location
"When calling 911, your physical location is the single most important piece of information our dispatchers need. Whether you are at home in Paris, North Middletown, Millersburg, or traveling along our county roads, knowing your exact address or nearby landmarks helps us get police, fire, or EMS to you faster."
Tip 2: Stay on the Line
"Did you accidentally dial 911? Please do not hang up! Let the dispatcher know it was a misdial. If you hang up, our team is required to call you back and potentially send units to check on your safety, which takes precious time away from actual emergencies."
Tip 3: Teach Children How to Call
"Take a few minutes today to talk to your kids about 911. Ensure they know their home address, their parents' names, and that 911 should only be called in a real emergency when someone needs immediate help from police, fire, or medical personnel."
Tip 4: Keep Pathways and House Numbers Visible
"Help our Bourbon County first responders find you quickly in the dark or during an emergency. Make sure your house numbers are clearly posted, well-lit, and visible from the road."

On Friday, October 23rd, Paris/Bourbon County E911 hosted a visit from the Paris Bourbon County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program. During the visit, our team discussed emergency communications operations and walked the students through a simulated test case involving a custodial interference scenario.

This exercise provided a valuable opportunity to demonstrate the systematic protocols and steps involved in initiating a missing juvenile investigation. The young participants demonstrated exemplary conduct, reflecting positively on their schools, families, and community.
