Hyundai Translead announced today plans to expand its operations into the U.S. with two advanced manufacturing facilities in Will County. This investment will create approximately 2,500 full-time jobs.

To support Hyundai Translead’s investment in Will County, a new Manufacturing Training Academy at Joliet Junior College is being established to strengthen the regional workforce development pipeline, equip Illinoisans with the skills needed for in-demand manufacturing careers, and help ensure the state’s growing manufacturing industry continues to have access to a highly skilled workforce.

Hyundai Translead is part of Illinois' EDGE program. The incentive program is designed to encourage companies to expand or relocate in Illinois when they are actively considering a competing site in another state.

The Illinois Department of Agriculture today announced $1.8 million in available funding for the Local Food Infrastructure Grants program. This funding bolsters food access in Illinois and supports items such as refrigerated vehicles, livestock processing, community kitchens and more. Applications are now being accepted for the Small Equipment Grant Program benefiting fire departments and ambulance services.

Fire departments make an everyday impact on our communities. Budgets can be tight, especially for rural fire departments. This grant allows departments to get the essential equipment they may otherwise not be able to afford.

The Small Equipment Grant Program assists fire departments and not-for-profit ambulance services in Illinois, particularly those experiencing difficulty in generating the necessary revenue for small equipment.

Illinois’ energy future is at a crossroads. On one hand, Illinois is looking to be a leader in a greener energy future. On the other hand, families deserve an energy system they can rely on; one that keeps homes comfortable during winter, powers local businesses, supports crucial industry and remains affordable for working families.

Through the Tourism Marketing Partnership Grant Program, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity will provide matching grants to assist in the promotion of tourism attractions, destinations and events in Illinois. Grant funding will help tourism partners market their attractions and events to increase visitation by both business and leisure travelers in order to increase overnight stays in Illinois.

With that said, I'm proud to announce that $18,000 in grant funding is being awarded to Kankakee County to attract visitors and support tourism in the region.

Kankakee County is home to some wonderful attractions and local businesses that Illinois residents, or out-of-state visitors, may not be aware of. What this funding will do is get the word out there and put Kankakee County on the map for visitors in the future.
