We need our communities help to open the Uplift Day Shelter as an emergency overnight winter shelter this winter season.

Winter is just around the corner and we've already had nights below 40 degrees.

We'd be happy to answer any questions you may have and as always are thankful for the support.

📢 IMPORTANT CHANGES COMING TO MISSOURI MEDICAID (MO HEALTHNET)!

Beginning January 1, 2027, Missouri Medicaid eligibility requirements are changing for adults ages 19–64 enrolled in the Adult Expansion Group.

To maintain coverage, individuals will need to meet new community engagement requirements or qualify for an exclusion.

✅ What does this mean?

Individuals may need to complete at least 80 hours per month of qualifying activities, including:

Employment

Job training

Community service

Educational programs

Certain individuals may qualify for an exclusion, including those who are pregnant, have a disability, care for a young child or someone with a disability, or meet other qualifying criteria.

📌 What should you do now?

✔️ Make sure your contact information is up to date with Missouri Medicaid.

✔️ Begin keeping track of employment, education, training, or community service hours.

✔️ Watch your mail for important notices from MO HealthNet.

✔️ Learn whether you may qualify for an exclusion.

You do NOT need to begin reporting these activities or exclusion information yet.

📬 Missouri will be mailing important information to affected households from August through September. Be sure to read and keep any notices you receive!

Don’t forget to express your opinion on the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on the Head Start Program. Parents, Former Parents, and Community Members they need to hear from you and how these proposed rules will change the Head Start Program and affect the children and families Head Start serves.

East Missouri Action Agency knows that parents and caregivers are the experts when it comes to what their children and families need to thrive.

The federal government is currently considering changes to the Head Start Program Performance Standards rules that help shape how Head Start programs operate and the services families receive.

If you’re a current or former Head Start parent or caregiver, your voice matters. You have an opportunity to share what you believe should be protected for children and families.

The National Head Start Association (NHSA) has created a national Parent Sign-On Letter so families can make their voices heard. The letter is available in both English and Spanish.
