Our artists have been busy creating Día de los Muertos–inspired sugar skull paintings as we wrap up Hispanic Heritage Month!

Along the way, students are exploring Mexican cultural traditions, applying math concepts like symmetry and proportion, and learning about anatomy.

These are sneak peeks of their works in progress! Watch for the finished artwork on Artsonia and outside the art room in the coming weeks!

We have loved celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month through read-alouds, map activities in the Media Center, connections to grade-level texts, and so much more! A special thank you to our librarian, Mrs. Ingham, for selecting wonderful Hispanic Heritage Month books for our read-alouds! 📚❤️🌎

Here is a snapshot of our 2nd graders’ Hispanic Heritage Month projects! Students explored their heritage, created projects, and presented their learning to the class. Each presentation gave us the opportunity to discover something new, learn from one another, and celebrate the rich cultures and traditions that make our community so special. ✨
