On Sunday morning we left for Southwest ks with a very solid group of 19 guys that Keith Keller with Neosho twsp put together out of Labette county and Crawford county fire Dept’s along with our Emergency manager and Crawford county Emergency manager. It will definitely be a trip we will never forget. Sunday was work, but Monday you could say it got real, Really fast. We were right in the middle of the Ashland fire that crossed 160hwy when the winds switched out of the North. We received a call at 6 am with less than 6 hrs rest to respond to an active fire. Working 14 hrs through the day with no food for 10 hrs. Made memories and met a lot of great people along the way. A few guys didn’t make the pic.Forgot to mention 900 mile trip! Task Force 19 👊

Early Sunday morning, fire departments from across Labette County — including Neosho Township, Labette #9, and Altamont Fire — along with Labette County Emergency Management, deployed to Southwest Kansas to assist with ongoing wildfires.

Serving as Task Force 19, the team was led by Chief Keith Keller of Neosho Township Fire Department. We were also joined by crews from Crawford County, bringing the total task force to 19 personnel.

Together, the two counties deployed:
• 6 brush trucks
• 2 water tenders
• 2 support trucks

Our crews spent Sunday and Monday working the fire lines near Ashland, Kansas, often putting in 14–16 hour days under extremely demanding conditions.

The crews returned home late Tuesday afternoon tired and worn out — but proud to serve and ready to answer the call again if needed.

We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, professionalism, and sacrifice shown by all personnel involved. Please join us in thanking these men and women for their service to Kansas communities.

We would also like to thank our elected officials for their continued support of emergency services and the personnel who stand ready to respond whenever and wherever needed. That support plays a vital role in making deployments like this possible.
