Thanks to our donors near and far, The Gamble House Conservancy reached—and exceeded—our $60,000 goal for the 60 for 60 Campaign nearly a week and a half before our 60th anniversary.

More than 300 donors came together to honor this remarkable place, and every gift helped make this milestone possible. Whether you added a contribution with your event tickets, made a campaign gift from afar, or encouraged others to give, your generosity made a meaningful difference.

We are especially grateful to the Docent Council for their generous $5,000 gift, which helped carry the campaign over the finish line. Their support reflects a shared commitment to the care, programming, and community connections that keep the Gamble House vibrant.

Because of this extraordinary response, we unlocked a $60,000 grant from The Windgate Foundation for the Strategic Care Fund—supporting conservation and the essential systems that help preserve and operate The Gamble House, including plumbing, electrical, drainage, heating, cooling, and more.

For 60 years, work has been undertaken to not only preserve the Gamble House, but also preserve the community that surrounds it. The heart of our efforts has always begun with our amazing docents, including this group from 1973, who welcomed all who came with a mixture of hospitality and education. They knew that whether someone was from near or far, a visit to the house was an entry point for a lifelong relationship with it.

Your support sustains the programs, people, and shared experiences that help The Gamble House Conservancy continue to inspire, educate, and bring people together.

A childhood school report by a Gamble family member, Tracy Hirrel, is preserved in the Greene and Greene Collection at the Huntington Library. She wrote about the dedication of the house, now 60 years ago:

“Imagine standing in line to go into your grandmother’s house. Well, it happened to me… Sunday was the big open house for the public. There was a big sign outside saying, ‘Gamble House 4 Westmoreland Place.’ There were many ropes blocking off places where I used to play with all my cousins… The house was completely changed back to the way it was when Greene and Greene built it.”

Thankfully, visitors today receive access to almost every corner of the house and property, led by our amazing docents. But for The Gamble House Conservancy, access means more than opening doors—it means making this extraordinary place available to everyone in our community.
